Currently, GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) foods in the United States are not classified differently by the FDA and do not require labeling. Although no reports of ill effects from GMO foods have been documented, advocacy groups such as Greenpeace and the Organic Consumers Association argue that past studies cannot be trusted because they were sponsored by pro-GMO companies and do not measure the long-term effects on humans, the environment, and nature. Opponents argue that labeling adds an unfounded stigma over organic foods and that if a nutritional or allergenic difference were found, current FDA regulations would already require a label.

No, I would respect them more if they did but they shouldn't be required to.

Less legislation, best legislation
@mathomas156Libertarian3yrs3Y
No, I would respect them more if they did.

Yes, GMOs are the most promising solution to ending world hunger... But consumers have a right to know what is in their food.

I could just choose to not purchase a product I'm unsure about, but if they were honest with labels, it would be helpful.

Government should get out of this completely. I don't believe in patents, and I don't think a free market would allow unlabelled GMOs. Let the market figure out how to make sure people are informed in their decision.
@mathomas156Libertarian4yrs4Y
Consumers do have a right to know what is in their foods and producers should label genetically engineered foods, but the government should not tell producers what to label or what not to label.
@8RHXJK84yrs4Y
No, but if asked they must say they do
@8QP2NTJIndependent4yrs4Y
Yes, but I think GMO is just a way of saying cheap made and Organic is expensive made which is why companies sell organic at a higher price. Everything has been GMO'd whether it was by humans or nature.
@8Q7P8JPLibertarian4yrs4Y
Yes, but differentiate selective breeding and artificial genetic modification.
@8Q6DCRZ4yrs4Y
No they don't need to, but if they're asked, they must tell them.
@8PS6QZ74yrs4Y
yes, its like an ingredient, it should always be shown
@8PJ38V2Libertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, but only due to societal pressures, the government should have no part in it.
@8NYN2345yrs5Y
@Scottie665yrs5Y
No, it should be at the company's discretion.
@92GDKK43yrs3Y
No, but it they do label them, there should be a standard that must be adhered to, even if it is industry defined.
@8NVMHCY5yrs5Y
No, regulation is against the free market
@928YP5R3yrs3Y
GMOs have 50/50 so it’s like buying an edible. You can die or you can live.
