The cache of documents revealed by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden disclosed that the U.S. used surveillance methods to monitor the emails and phone calls of its closest foreign allies including Germany, France and Brazil. The revelations have severely damaged the U.S.'s relationship with these countries even though State Department officials have insisted that these surveillance programs have thwarted many terrorist threats worldwide.

Yes if we suspect that the allied country has gone rogue with an unreliable leader of their government
@9SRWBS410mos10MO
I feel it's only fair if they know about it. It's just a safety precaution in case things go awry but I feel we should strive towards using it as a last resort and build as genuine a connection as they come.
@9DNBV5Z2yrs2Y
yes, but we should at least let them know and gain permission and promise to only use it for anti terrorism
@9DB6BSYConstitution2yrs2Y
Yes, but it should be a superficial surveillance where if there is physical activity that might be dangerous for the US, we would be able to at least see what's going on. no wire tapping or spying on personal communication
@98T6HVF2yrs2Y
Yes, because it is decreasing terrorist attacks but keep in communication with the Nations.

@96D6P2W3yrs3Y
Well I'm under 24/7 surveillance by Santa Claus, so I think we'd better do something about that first.
@95QKMNK3yrs3Y

@8XXW9LD4yrs4Y

@8XJQSTH4yrs4Y

@8QX8S4J4yrs4Y
We should only scale back surveillance on allied countries
@8QGBYQV4yrs4Y
If we detect espionage in our territory, then we must track everyone.
@8PYTYFT5yrs5Y
No, instead the U.S. and it's allies should work together and share information about possible threats.
@8PHRKTM5yrs5Y
Yes, but under reasonable suspicion
@8MTBKVW5yrs5Y
Surveillance of allies and enemies is necessary, but it's not necessary to survey US citizens unless given reasonable suspicion.
Yes, as long as the other countries can do the same to us.
@8LHKX8T5yrs5Y
Yes, Countries merely have mutual interests and will betray each other as soon as those interests cease to exist. Such as the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact of 1939 falling apart in 1941.
@8K62TJ65yrs5Y
Not informed enough on the topic.
@98TGR6L2yrs2Y
Light surveillance wont hurt but don't probe very far without cause.
@97YG26HIndependent3yrs3Y
Yes, they should use survelliance when there is reasonable doubt, otherwise no for the sake of reputation damages.
@97YDZPWRepublican3yrs3Y
I understand the importance of monitoring other countries that are your allies. At the same time, I feel there's no reason to monitor them unless they do something to break your trust. Therefore, I disagree that we shouldn't spy on our allies.
Yes, as long as our allies can do the same
@8DXX7WJ5yrs5Y
Only if there is threat of terrorist activity
No, countries should instead work together to thwart terrorist threats as cooperation is the best option for rooting out such operations.
