If the teacher legally owns and carries a permit to carry a concealed weapon with proper training, then yes. Other weapons such as long guns should be permitted, locked in an anti-theft, nontransparent, locker accessible in the event of emergency.

 @9YMVM45 from New York  answered…7mos7MO

Teachers should be armed in case of a school shooting and they can protect themselves and their students. However they should keep it somewhere very secure but also somewhere they can remember.

 @9XNNZWN from Ohio  answered…7mos7MO

we shouldn't even be asking this question, teachers shouldn't have to protect themselves from people shooting up a school

 @9XMGY5J from Pennsylvania  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, because it will help keep students safe in any school shooter situation and the guns can be kept in a safe that only the teacher and principal can open.

 @9XHJXSMPeace and Freedom from California  answered…7mos7MO

This is not a solution to the problem of school shootings, this does literally nothing to prevent them

 @9X7MD64 from Arkansas  answered…7mos7MO

We should not be at a point as a society where this is even a question. Teachers having a gun at school is unsafe. Nobody should have guns anywhere. Period.

 @9VQW5THDemocrat from Kansas  answered…8mos8MO

there should be better security at schools in general but more guns is not the answer because those could be the very people wanting to shoot others (teachers or students)

 @9VKRJ5GCommunist from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

If they can conceal carry, fix the deeper issues if you want school shooting to end (mental health, and quality of life)

 @9VJTS8NDemocrat from Iowa  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but concealed carry and should pass approved training, and be reported to the principal of the school.

 @9VFHGTD from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

Yes but only if they choose to do so and can provide proof of adequate training/continued education similar to requirements for their teaching license.

 @9V3KQYC from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

until our fun violence problem is dealt with, when registering and buying guns legally, teachers should be able to carry for their own protection

 @9S6FT7B from California  answered…10mos10MO

Guns in general should be banned. Teachers should not have to be gun trained nor have bare that much responsibility in others’ lives in order to teach.

 @9R6XGRJ from Colorado  answered…10mos10MO

Asking a teacher to possess the tools and emotional ability to potentially harm their own students in situations of internal danger is cruel.

 @9R6WD5D from Missouri  answered…10mos10MO

No, arming teachers with guns in schools will not solve the gun violence issue faced inside schools.

 @9R34GLT from Pennsylvania  answered…11mos11MO

Teachers should never be asked to arm themselves. It’s a disgrace that this is even an issue.our leaders should implement better laws for gun control.

 @9JNTT2H from California  answered…1yr1Y

Depending on the area of the country, teachers should be allowed to carry a weapon with proper permits. This should not be a requirement by the school district for anyone to carry a gun, but in many cases, we should not be limiting a person from their right to own a gun. I would like to see consistent gun handling and safety trainings to any teacher who carries a gun on campus. I do think there should be stricter regulation on gun sales and the legality of carrying a firearm.

 @9J69MVM from California  answered…1yr1Y

Neutral, a classroom should have a firearm kept in a safe and should only be used in dire circumstances

 @9H8D8SP from California  answered…2yrs2Y

If this were to be implemented, proper training would have to be established and if these are the conditions in which these teachers are to work in, they should also get a raise.

 @9GXYZN3 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but this wouldn’t be an issue in need of discussion if they actually put gun control laws in place and made it safer for our children

 @9FWWVYS from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

As long as a thorough background and behavior check is done and they pass every gun safety exam and are licensed they should be able to bring a hand gun to school if they wish

 @9FJJ7HK from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

There shouldn’t be easy enough access to guns to warrant carrying on school grounds.

 @9FFHGQH from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

Federal/national guards should be stationed at schools as a deterrent against school shootings.

 @9FBSXB3Workers from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

I don’t think anyone should have a gun but I believe if a teacher is trained and has a gun should have it locked up because school shootings need to stop but also it shouldn’t have to be on the teachers

 @9F8694L from Massachusetts  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only if Guns are not restricted, if someone can get a gun so easily, teachers should be able to do the same and act in self defense though if guns are restricted, I do not believe they should carry guns

 @8Q6MVXJ from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

yes only if you are trained and know how to handle it in case of an emergency

 @9BHR9S4Progressive from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

The gun should be as concealed as possible if they are going to have one, this is to not scare the children or students, and to be able to protect themselves

 @99D9ZYR from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes so teachers can protect students but, what if a student finds it and acts dumb with the gun, so I'd rather not answer.

 @96NBTTS from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

I don't like guns and do wish they were banned, but since we live in a society where shootings are common, I think a teacher carrying a gun in case they would need to defend themselves and their students would be acceptable.

 @96JDRQ2 from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

Hire both professionals and let teachers carry, but at their own discretion

 @96FVN9KPeace and Freedom from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only with proper training and ideally they cannot carry it on them but somewhere in the classroom

 @96FH5LB from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes but should require them to do gun training/classes and get a gun license and so they can only use it at a needed time.

 @95YQ8ML from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Rather than arming teachers schools should be more protected and made more safe, because a techer could easily acciently or purposley harm someone aswell as students can gain access to the wepon and harm others. Schools should have armed security or law enforcement on campus while in school hours.

Only if they are thoroughly trained, comfortable, and the weapon is concealed.

 @93HHZLN from Utah  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but teachers should be allowed and encouraged to carry self-defense weapons such as pepper spray for emergencies

 @93GKQNY from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but it shouldn't mandatory. It should be the choice of each teacher

 @9355MCW from Utah  answered…3yrs3Y

Provided they have adequate training and if they choose to carry that will be ok, but not forced to do so.

 @92Z3Z37Democrat from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92NTXND from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

If the teacher has proven to show they are more than capable of being responsible and held responsible for anything that happens.

 @9237X2XDemocrat from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZXBYZGGreen from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y

Maybe trained guards, but put more funding into mental health so these things don’t happen in the first place.

 @8ZVH2C2 from Georgia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZHL4JN from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No, You should reform gun laws so that teachers do not feel a responsibility to defend their lives and children's lives with guns.

 @8ZFDXS7Socialist from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Z8BZHW from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

A person who is intent on causing harm to a school and it's occupants doesn't care that the school doesn't allow guns. For them it's like chickens in the hen house fresh for the wolf to take his pick. If a teacher knows how to safely handle a firearm and keeps it concealed and out of sight and hopefully even better, out of sound of everyone else then why should anybody care? It's stupid to be more mad at a teacher who wants to do anything including risking their live to defend their students than to trying to prevent shootings by actually following through on warning signs and red flags.

In an ideal world, teachers should not be carrying weapons in school. However, they can be used as a last resort - with thorough, proper training and locking them down as tightly as possible to avoid any accidents.

 @8XYDPXK from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Teacher's should be trained for it first and also have security guards in case a teacher cannot emotionally or mentally fire a gun.

 @8XX9Y5Z from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XV37F3 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but should be kept safely and should not be taken out unless needed be.

 @8XQ4QLLWomen’s Equality from Nevada  answered…3yrs3Y

It can be alright if the teacher mentally and has prepared to use it. It should only be used in case of an emergency.

 @8XHFJXL from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Depending on the teacher and their background, I believe some should be able to carry if they have had enough experience, for example a law enforcement teacher.

 @8WZWJX8 from Missouri  answered…4yrs4Y

I think some employees at shcools should be armed, but only the most mentally stable and level-headed.

 @8WYPKRTSocialist from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

No, this only increases the danger of shootings in school accidental or otherwise.

 @8WXJPK3 from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

I don't really care, if they want they should but jt shouldn't be mandatory

 @8WPJ8K7 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, students will then have the opportunity to steal the firearm and use it

 @8VYDG9W from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

No, only allow specifically trained faculty to use them. Letting every teacher have one could increase the risk of accidental shootings

 @8VLQLKCWomen’s Equality from Utah  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, teachers should be allowed to carry guns at their own choice but only after background checks and psychological evaluations

 @8VGXMCJPeace and Freedom from Nevada  answered…4yrs4Y

Only with the appropriate training and it should always be kept in a safe near a cabinet and the students should know in case they feel uncomfortable.

 @8VBZHBD from Hawaii  answered…4yrs4Y

No absolutely not, there is no reason for a teacher to carry a gun near any students or other people

 @8TWBY4Z from California  answered…4yrs4Y

a teacher should have to have a license to carry before being allowed to have a gun on campus.

 @8TRCPGSIndependent from Utah  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TPCX5BIndependent from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if they have gone through a ton of training and if they can prove they can be safe with one

 @8T68LNF from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

In a environment full of kids it would not be safe to carry a fire arm but they however should provide teachers with a protective gear that only they know of for protection

 @8SLYJ2VSocialist from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if they are properly trained and pass psychological testing.

 @8SK8N2R from Utah  answered…4yrs4Y

If the risk of school shootings remain as high as they are, teachers should be able to protect their students.

 @8SJNJBC from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

yes but only if the teacher has passed a mental and physical health screener and is not unstable

 @8S93ZNLDemocrat from Missouri  answered…4yrs4Y

Instead of having teachers carry guns, have metal dectectors at all intrances, make the windows safer so it doesnt look like a prison but also bullet proof so children can still see outside.

 @8S8TYT9 from Hawaii  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8S7J9GP from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

yes, if they are trained properly and want to. It shouldn't be manditory.
