28 states US states currently allow teachers or school staff to be armed in the classroom under varying conditions. Proponents argue that without guns, teachers or other staff have only limited countermeasures available to them when confronted with a shooter. Opponents, include The National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers, highlight the elevated risk of accidents and negligent use of firearms as more adults in schools are armed.

Yes if they are certified.
no but they could instead have a tazer around instead.
yes, if you know how to actually use it
Yes, but require safety training
yes but teachers must be trained
Yes, but they should be professionally trained.
Yes, Only after they complete a decent amount of training and safety classes with said firearm
Yes and require training and weekly psyc evaluation
As an American citizen if they can pass improved gun laws and mental health as well as gun training annually then yes
I would say yes but i want to know that when I'm coming to school that I'm not walking into a prison. if you understand
They should if they do it to protect their students from outside danger
Only if they have a gun license and are permitted by the school to carry it.
Yes, but they need to be highly trained on how to use a gun.
if the school is a smaller school and if the school is in the hood or ghetto part of town
Police at schools to have guns
Yes, but only under consealed carrie and should not inorm students if they do have a weapon
yes only if the teacher has proper knowledge and training to conceal a fire arm
Yes as long as there are proper training courses for these teachers regarding the weapons that are at their disposal
Yes, but only with licensing and training
yes, but only if they are certified to carry the gun and if the school board knows about it
I would have to think of a answer for this question
Yes, but only for middle and high school.
they should and they should not because if someone tried to hurt one of their students then they should protect them but if not then they should justy keep it under their desk or something
u have to take classes and have a special card to be able to
Yes, but only if they have a concealed guns license
mr. fits should be able to bring rpg to school
I think teachers that were prior military should be given the opportunity to acquire a firearm after going through extensive psychological tests to determine if they’re mentally stable.
Security guards aren't a necessity because some teachers are responsible with guns but I would not trust every teacher with a fire arm.
I think maybe some should have them in areas where crimes and issues are more a problem. Not every school should have teachers carrying.
i feel like if the wrong hands got onto it something bad could happen but if its on them and locked up i dont see a problem, the cop carries a gun every day
If they feel they need it for their safety
no because thin students feel threatened
They can have them but not at school or any thing lethal
Yes, but teachers have to go through more rigorous background and psychological test.
Hidden somewhere in the room locked up away from the students that only the teacher can get into after taking special gun training.
yes if the teacher is able to carry a gun in public
Yes but the teacher should only use the gun if absolutely necessary
Teachers that are trained in firearm safety , with that be allowed to carry a firearm if they would so choose
Yes, but they should have background checks and be trustworthy
maybe in case of school shootings
I think it should be a choice left up to the teachers
i believe as long teachers dont go around saying they have one in the room and have the proper paper work and background check and they keep in in a safe locked up in their desk key word their desk no student would no or be in their desk so no harm no fall only protection and i would honesty feel more safe especially if they know what their doing
maybe only one person in the office
Hire or use veteran volunteers and allow them to be armed
if the teacher has the proper training to handle a gun then I have no problem with them having a firearm
If they have a license and are responsible with it.
It depends if there is a attack on the school
Yes, as long as the teacher is qualified to handle a firearm.
No, students make teachers mad and we don't need anymore of that
Only if students had a weapon
Yes , but be properly trained to use firearms
no, it would be a power trip for them.
yes and so should the students no of course not are you dumb?
Yes, but the teacher must have extensive background checks and make sure they keep it somewhere students cannot see or access it.
why would you need to bring a gun to school to cause harm
Yes, but these teachers need to know that in the situation of a school shooting they have to go out and help instead of staying in a room because they are armed.
if they are trained and are cleared from not having mental illness or previous criminal records
Yes, have teachers trained to be armed incase if an intruder.
I think that teachers should be allowed to only if they check there backgrounds and do daily check in with there guns and also there permits
yes but only if your in an area were school shootings happen often.
Not open carry but in a locked closet in case of emergency
Two or three trusted teachers should be properly trained and armed incase of emergency
Have specific teachers that are extensively trained to carry and use firearms.
I feel if the teacher is not telling everybody about the gun and is trained to conceal carry and isn't using the gun to threaten people or using it improperly and the teacher needs to be aware of situations
Depends, not likely but in like an area were shootings happen a lot would most likely to be allowed.
Yes, if they have passed background checks and are mentally stable
No, if a student got a hold of the gun that would mean chaos
Yes, if they've been trained and have a conceal and carry permit
No, you never know what these teachers might do and it can cause a lot of accidents
Yes, if they pass the psych test and have regular training for the use of the fire arm.
if the teacher is guaranteed to be an official user of a gun and have passed a yearly mental test
Yes, let it be their choice and if they have a license for it.
they should have served in the military or be combat trained than yes.
i believe they should just in case of a school shooting they can protect us.
yes but only if they went through a strict background check because they would be at school with a gun
i believe carrying the gun should be the teachers choice but i believe it should be aloud
yes if they are specially trained and can keep it in a safe out of the reach of kids but in an emergency use it to defend us in a lockdown situation
ONLY and ONLY if they are well trained and know how to use a gun for dire situation and potential threat purposes like a school shooter
Yes, but it should be very few of them and make sure they are gun trained.
As long as they are willing to be armed. They also must be certified and have some training in order to wield a firearm.
No students could possibly find the guns and them for harming
I think that they should if they have their carry conceal license for the gun and can only use it for protection and nothing more.
Yes, if the teacher is a trustworthy teacher, and has a gun licence training in that specific gun class
... sounds like a school shooting waiting t happen.
I say yes to this as long as they have a gun permit and are safe with them it really could stop most of the school shootings and killings in schools.
No, Law enforcement officers should be present at schools.
The school should be armed with security with firearms, but what's stopping a teacher from shooting. I would not trust all my teachers with a firearm.
Depends on what everyone else would feel
yes maybe for protection
Yes, but require background checks and a panic button incase the teacher snaps, and also the gun should be locked and only unlocked remotely in case of an intruder.
It depends it shouldnt be mandatory but it could optional for the teacher and they should pass basic training
No, because children have very sticky fingers
Contingent on a area and background check
Yes, and pay for a certain amount of teachers to carry and be properly trained if not already.
I believe if the teacher is extensively trained... then maybe, but if not it just increases the risk of accidental shootings.
I think in my opinion that if a teacher feels as if he/she would feel safer and could protect the students then they should have more paid training and a background check as well with extensive research about the person and their mental state and health. And if they pass then it should be either non-leathal or self-defence bullets, the weapon shouldn't be able to be accessed at any time but only when the office gives a clearance and the weapon should also be in a lockbox and the ammunition along with the clip/magazine should be in a separate lock box.
I think they should be able to carry a concealed weapon just in case of an emergency situation where the use of firearms might be necessary.
No, this would increase the risk of purposeful shootings
