I think teachers should, but they can't show it to students and can't threaten people. They can only use it for protection if someone brakes in.

 @9ZL4MMGIndependent from Maryland  answered…7mos7MO

If trained and licensed, a teacher should be able to carry a firearm legally, while doing their job.

 @9XR4WCT from Maryland  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, but keep it concealed or secure it in a desk or readily available place that only the teacher or security can access

 @9VWQZMD from Maryland  answered…8mos8MO

No, but a trained security guard or campus police should be allowed to be armed in the case of an emergency.

 @9VNS7SQLibertarian from Maryland  answered…8mos8MO

People, including teachers, should have encouraged access to gun safety and training. More attention should be paid to getting illegal guns out of circulation.

 @9VFHXGG from Maryland  answered…9mos9MO

I would say yea but some schools have security with guns but if a school without security should allow some teachers go carry a gun.

 @9VBQBWP from Maryland  answered…9mos9MO

By giving teachers guns, it increases the fight or flight situation in many young individuals, provoking them in their educational prowess.

 @9TCMBHY from Maryland  answered…9mos9MO

If the teacher wants to and can pass proper tests to make sure they are of sound body and mind, and willing to use it for protection alone, they should be allowed. But, there should be higher security and further mental help for students to help reduce the need for more guns in schools.

 @9ST3VC4 from Maryland  answered…10mos10MO

No because this can cause more drama and the teacher can be mad and then shoot someone and if the gun is stolen by a student then it's over so they should and shouldn't be able to

 @9S9WKDN from Maryland  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, if they’ve gone through significant psychological testing, training, as well as extra back ground checks. The gun should also be kept in a locked cabinet

 @9GL6ZCMForward from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, if the teacher is ex-military/law enforcement, has passed recent tests, and if the local jurisdiction allows it.

 @9FQ2F3V from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

I feel like if they have been trained with the gun yes but i wouldn't allow them in schools with really little kids because kids have no idea the affects the guns could have but in most situations it would probably just be better to have trained security.

 @9DRJCRV from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes they must have a serious background check to teach kids and to own a gun

 @9DCL9MKLibertarian from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but have a 5-10 teachers or counselors and principals per hallway that are willing and capable to have a firearm in their rooms in the event where a police officer (or officers) will refuse to respond for their own lives (Uvalde)

 @8FRB8J7 from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes. Any staff member who is willing and is verified to have regular safety and tactical training, paid for by the school district.

 @9GHLXS6 from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

if the teacher is trained then yes. we shouldnt give guns to teachers that have never used them before.

 @9BYY3PK from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

NO, this would increase the risk of accidental shootings, would add stress to teachers, and causes them to take up the job of a military official or police officer without proper training for less pay.

 @96LS4T7 from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

Only with thorough training in firearms safety and conflict de-escalation

 @96HPW9H from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9663QXZ from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93QSZPW from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, Provided the teacher can show proficient discipline in firearm training.

 @93KCLN3 from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93DBRHF from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

If they are qualified to open or concealed carry already, then they can be armed.

 @937WVXP from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8YFQQTKLibertarian from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, at the discretion of the teacher. Only with extensive training and certifications with periodic refresher training.

 @8XVWLF7 from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8X8LTW8 from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8X8KJ6P from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

no because if some students find out they could play with it and possibly kill somebody

 @8X4PBMKWomen’s Equality from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

no a teacher could shoot a child and say they where scared for their life :(

 @8WNFZ53 from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8WD3G6H from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

While having a gun could be both helpful and hurtful, I say that the teachers know where to access a gun that the students are unaware of. Like in a secret pocket inside of a wall behind a drawer or something, that way actual threats to the schools can be kept out of schools.

 @8WBCHR2Green from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TNW7Q9 from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

Allow for veterans willing to continue to protect, protect our children.

 @8R2ZJ5VWomen’s Equality from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

in the middle yes and no because I say no because a student can find it use it for the wrong purpose, and yes so the teacher can protect themselves and the students as well.

 @8MWNLT3 from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Invest more in education and mental health so we have better schools in the first place.

 @8MBYJNP from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8LVF6J3 from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

In special cases, but overall, there needs to be multiple well trained security guards present.

 @8JYFTXH from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, But concealed on person and only if they have a concealed carry license and training

 @8HSKS8G from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

The cops in the school should be allowed encase of emergency and teachers shouldn't be able to.

 @8HFJYNM from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but they need to be certified and need to know how and when to use it.

 @aradomsky17 from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8H6HBJB from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

With the proper knowledge and safety measures, just like security is trusted with weapons so should teachers. They need to be trusted.

 @8H66QCN from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if trained and approved by that schools staff in an area where issues are known to be present or threatening violence.

 @8H4XRGT from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8H4SMD4 from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8H2G4BW from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

No, allow professionally trained guards and increase deescalation method training.

 @8GZ6GPV from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

If a teacher wishes to have a gun they should be able but if they work in a district that has no crime it should not be a option. Only let them if there is a hit story if violence.

 @8GQBQJQ from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

No, we need military personel in front of the school and make the person think twice before harming public learning place.

 @8GN9NKPLibertarian from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

No, hired professionally trained security guards, teachers should never be allowed to carry a gun at school, a teacher could go off the rallies just as easily as anyone else and a student could take the gun off a teacher and become a shooter

 @8GG69SRLibertarian from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Teachers should be given the choice to carry should they feel they feel comfortable but undergo special training to best protect their students. The district should willingly offer the course of training .I recommend Concealed carry preferably so students are neither distracted or intimidated should they not feel comfortable with firearms.

 @8FWKW9W from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Only if they are trained and go through continuous mental health evaluations

 @8DJ2294 from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only after having passed a special certification with minimum hours of training and tested by a board of interviewers, and a thorough background check

 @8CLRW2N from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8CDJC4Q from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

 @9CMTVQW from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

They should without the kids knowing and should be kept in a safe with a code only the teacher knows, rooms should also be locked when empty

 @98FKBFW from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

i beileve there should be at least 2 police officers on school grounds at all times

 @97CZ9Q9 from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

depends on the location of the school and the teacher because one mental breakdown=school shooting

 @979JZXL from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

Teachers should have guns in school because Teachers in school would need to use a weapon in a school lock downs!!!

 @9733Y7RIndependent from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8X6SK48 from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but only after going through strict background checks, psychological testing and training

 @8WL495L from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

yes. but with HEAVY restriction there should not be a easy thing to get to, it should locked at all times unless emergencies, MUST take a extensive background checks and the gun should be fingerprint lock gun.

 @8M9TRL8 from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

No because if I piss my teacher off I don't want them to pull out the Glock .40 and just triple round me because I annoyed them just hire better trained guards for the schools and more.

 @8LCDSB7Working Family from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

This question shouldn’t have a blanketed yes or no answer. It depends on the safety of the area

 @8LC7TTMDemocrat from Maryland  answered…5yrs5Y

I think that there should be a guns or a few guns on school propeties incase of emergency, but the teachers need to be and must be trained to use them
