they should give certain workers this right and put the weapon in a safe where only certain qualitfied individuals know passcodes and where the weapon is. the guns should not be in the hands of your normal teacher but instead someone more manly like a football coach in some cases. they also need to be heavily trained on everything involing this gun

 @9WLY2NS from California  answered…9mos9MO

No, but teachers should be armed with other types of weapons. If we give teachers guns that are locked away in a highly secure cabinet it will take the teachers longer to get the gun to defend their students. Giving teachers guns could also increase the risk of accidental shootings.

 @9VG6TZX from California  answered…9mos9MO

This needs to be decided by the states, but I lean towards having at least 1 teacher having a gun after training.

 @9VG56C9 from California  answered…9mos9MO

This would increase the chances of accidental shootings so a teacher should not have one but their should be a trained security guard with a firearm.

 @9VG54M6Republican from California  answered…9mos9MO

Yes, however teachers should have to go through 6 hours worth of firearm classes and proper training. Firearms should be locked away in safes and unloaded at all times until they are 100% required like in a school shooting situation.

 @9SRXKRJ from California  answered…10mos10MO

Some teacher with a trained background should be allowed to carry a firearm but no one in class should know about it.

 @9SQYJ23 from California  answered…10mos10MO

If there won't be more restrictions placed on gun purchases, then teachers or security guards should be allowed to carry guns at school.

 @9KYGK9N from California  answered…1yr1Y

Teachers shouldn't need to carry guns, the only reason they might need to is to handle threats involving other guns

 @9JH67SY from California  answered…1yr1Y

No, this would influence the children that possessing a gun is fine but in actuality, possessing a gun should have a more in-depth reasoning.

 @9FFHGZW from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but to be used responsibly in case of an emergency, such as a shooting

 @9FFGYLM from California  answered…2yrs2Y

I would say to keep guns in a cabinet or somewhere secret until it's needed.

 @9FF9D4W from California  answered…2yrs2Y

It isn't right, and instead more measures should be taken to prevent shooters from getting guns in the first place. Until those measures become effective, however, in the meantime teachers should have guns.

 @9FDHXYS from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Teachers should be allowed to carry guns, but the teachers should be fact checked to make sure that nothing bad happens.

 @9DJQ5B8 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

 @8FR6XCQ from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if a teacher has a permit and adequate training, he/she should be allowed to carry a gun.

 @96C53N8 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

The teacher's job is to teach. If you want to mandate an armed guard for every 3 or 4 rooms, standing in the hallway, then absolutely, but quite frankly, I don't trust some teachers with the power that a gun would give them in the classroom.

 @95NCMFQ from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Have a dedicated teacher(s) to and have them blend in at school so maybe 2 teachers or 3 yard duties.

 @94BBNSY from California  answered…3yrs3Y

honestly if the gun is in a safe in one of her drawers then yes i think teachers should have them. just incase if anything ever happens to the school.

 @92G7FSJ from California  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, if the teacher wants to and has had some form of training with the firearm

 @92D26FH from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, with the proper background checks and safety training must be required.

 @8YMWVN4 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

i don't think so, man how am i supposed to trust a teacher with a gun, do a damn background check on em before just handing them it and let them get a license to hold it. idk it's the kids you know like some people get hella bullied to the point where death it the only option in the brain. teens suck. also really an adult is gonna shoot up a school or rob. that's just low

 @8Y83QP5 from California  answered…4yrs4Y

No, we shouldn't be fighting the gun problem with more guns, we should be stopping the shootings from happening in the first place.

 @8Y2JKPS from California  answered…4yrs4Y

if the teacher is able to show they can properly use a gun and also pass strict test

 @8XP76MPIndependent from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Not security guards, but police ONLY. NO teacher should be allowed to carry a firearm to a school. PERIOD.

 @8XJW89TDemocrat from California  answered…4yrs4Y

What if a shooter comes and the teacher does not have ANY defense? Teachers should have one locked up in their room and ONLY USE WHEN MUST NEEDED!

 @8XFX2M2 from California  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8XDL7XV from California  answered…4yrs4Y

All depends on the teacher. With proper training and a required safe in their classroom, yes. However, it could cause a potential increase in danger in the classroom.

 @8X7CKMR from California  answered…4yrs4Y

as long as they are licensed and legally allowed to have it. and staff is notified of it

 @8X5N3T8 from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes as long as the guns are in a secure area and the teachers have proper training.

 @8X5D4T9 from California  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8WLCH2M from California  answered…4yrs4Y

This can cause more accidental misfires and dangerous towards people who are untrained and do not know about gun safety.

 @8WL272R from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but teachers who choose to should be given the proper training with the gun.

 @8WKYCFQ from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes; but they should require the teacher to get some sort of a license.

 @8WJ3YTT from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Only they prove they are mentally stable enough, attend classes on gun safety and if they are a good shot or id they do have to use the gun they wont miss their target.

 @8V4ZKFK from California  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TZSP9H from California  answered…4yrs4Y

well don’t hire like the police or something, we shouldn’t have them

 @8TWJXKS from California  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SH3Q4F from California  answered…4yrs4Y

No, unless the teacher has extensive training or past experience as an officer or other job involving a gun

 @8RQKPND from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but they need to go through training and meet certain requirements

 @8R9MZCQ from California  answered…4yrs4Y

No, I believe it would increase the risk of shootings and more mental health programs should be available and offered to students.

 @8R8KF4ZWrite-In from California  answered…4yrs4Y

NO, professionally hired security guards would be the next step but with better gun controlled laws more regulations for keeping guns and gun safe laws. I believe there won't be a necessity for hired security

 @8R6YCXQ from California  answered…4yrs4Y

If a child who wanted to cause a shooting didn't have a gun, this would give them an opportunity to have access to a firearm. If that child was really determined to get the gun.,they would most likely get the gun.

 @8R3SYG7 from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but the teachers should all be trained in order to prevent accidents.

 @8QW99XC from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should have guns, but they must be safe, secret, and the teachers must know how to use them.

 @8PYF9BQ from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only be able to unlock access to the gun whenever there is an active shooter alter and they should be trained on how to use a gun

 @8PVSCQF from California  answered…5yrs5Y

I think teachers should have some form of protection in their classrooms. even if it's a gun with no lethal ammo, pepper, anything. I think teachers should know how to use them and they should be somewhere the teacher can use them in the event of an emergency or threat.

 @8PPBXN5 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8PKVP7PLibertarian from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but require the teachers to undergo further background and psychological tests, firearm training which includes necessary protocol.

 @8HDZ8N9Republican from California  answered…5yrs5Y

yes they should if they are legaly allowed to own one and know the safety regulations

 @8F77PB3 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, teachers who are trained and competent should be allowed to carry guns, but not required to carry guns.

 @8DQZ77V from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8DKWRNM from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only if they have the proper training and knowledge of how to use one.

 @8CRVS77 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8CRMXW6 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but they should be licenced by the state to do so only after proper training and taking a qualification course.

 @8CR24XS from California  answered…5yrs5Y

yes, however, they should only use rounds that can neutralize shooters not eliminate them. see pepper spray bullets.

 @8CL9CGD from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @9CJBZSJ from California  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BWTGCQ from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, as long as they have the necessary training and responsibility to use the gun.

 @9BHJ8F7 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but whoever is handling this weapon needs to be background checks and seriously trusted.

 @99DH9MYRepublican from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes although they should be a last resort so having at least one armed guard and there should be a national standard on training and securing the weapon

 @998SL9P from California  answered…2yrs2Y

 @995BJSK from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Maybe have stricter regulations on guns before deciding who should have a gun at school for protection

 @98ZLSP7Independent from California  answered…2yrs2Y

No, because the cause of effects will be that kids wouldn't want to be in your class cause they are all of a sudden afraid to be in that ideal class.

 @9837X3K from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @97BVK5N from California  answered…3yrs3Y

A teacher should not be allowed to carry a firearm, but to have one on standby. A firearm should only be used in the case of self-defense, and background checks must be applied.

 @8WK9J24Libertarian from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should be trained in the handling of guns and proper security measures in order to protect accidental shootings and conceal the weapons.

 @8VY2TWQIndependent from California  answered…4yrs4Y

I would say a trusted staff at a school should carry a gun. However, there should be several restrictions and protection towards this gun.

 @8PNRLXP from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Depends, eliminate the Department of Education and leave the decision up to private schools

 @8PLTVTD from California  answered…5yrs5Y

yes, but the weapon would need to be concealed and the teacher would need a carry permit and also be trained and cleared to handle the fire arm
