No, I'd rather have school resource officers and mental health programs to address the issue.

 @8XXPBW6 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @B2DKBPH from California  answered…4mos4MO

I think if they were to do this highly trained teachers who have a background in millitary than yes but could risk accidents with students if a student got a hold of a gun.

 @9ZBDXYZ from California  answered…7mos7MO

it should be locked away and when a school shooting happens they take it out and protect them until police arrive.

 @9XZ9QGS from California  answered…7mos7MO

yes because what if there's an intruder and or a massive shooting how are they going to protect the students

 @9X6TDMX from California  answered…7mos7MO

Why are guns even being referenced in a school setting? Gun laws should be much harsher so society does not have to deal with shootings being as common as they are.

 @9VHWQDH from California  answered…8mos8MO

Mostly no, because i would increase the risk of the accidental shooting and angry kids that choose violence instead, but also if it is a school that has problems than yes.

 @9VDBJQY from California  answered…8mos8MO

Teachers who are professionally trained, know how to handle a gun, and have a good hiding spot for the gun. Then yes, I believe teachers should be allowed to hold guns.

 @9VBMTFJ from California  answered…8mos8MO

Id prefer if teachers go through background and mental checks before they decided to want to carry a firearm while being a teacher, and they should just hire better trained security guards.

 @9TYCMWP from California  answered…8mos8MO

No, however, I believe it would be beneficial for teachers to go through some sort of professional gun training in case of the scenario where they must defend themselves and students against shooters.

 @9TYBX2M from California  answered…8mos8MO

yes, but only after extreme testing, the approval of the school, and after notifying all parents of students

 @9T34ZLZ from California  answered…9mos9MO

Teachers should have a gun in their room for safety reasons but I think it would have to be monitored for the right reasons

 @9MYSMP7 from California  answered…1yr1Y

If you are a registered gun owner and you carry everyday I do believe you should be able to carry while you’re a teacher, that’s their choice.

 @9MM95VJ from California  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, they should, but it needs to be locked to be secured from themselves and students. And can only be open for emergencies.

 @9LTWVVM from California  answered…1yr1Y

No, This increases the risk of school shooting, accidental shootings, and it puts everyone's lives at risk.

 @9LTWMX3 from California  answered…1yr1Y

Teachers in high school shooting areas or just high shooting areas should have teachers with guns. However if there is a school with little to no shootings, there should be a gun or two on campus in a secure location if case there is a shooting.

 @9LTVBP8Democrat from California  answered…1yr1Y

No, I believe that there should be more security provided as well as metal detectors at schools to ensure safety.

 @9LTSST8 from California  answered…1yr1Y

Yes and they should be trained and have to do a background to ensure they are eligible to carry a gun on school grounds, the gun should be locked up and hidden in a place students are unaware of.

 @9LP26VZLibertarian  from California  answered…1yr1Y

No, but members of staff who have undergone significant physiological and skill evaluations on a yearly basis should be allowed.

 @9KCN38K from California  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, as long as the teachers keep the gun concealed in a safe place only they know where the gun is located.

 @9K5NPSX from California  answered…1yr1Y

No i dont think they should be able to have guns, but definitely should be able to have something to protect them and the kids

 @9K4Y45W from California  answered…1yr1Y

Only a security guard or two should be armed in the circumstances of protection during a shooting, no teacher should have one on campus and the guns should be kept quiet and out of sight of students.

 @9K4NWK7 from California  answered…1yr1Y

The security guards should have handguns. I think teachers should be able to choose to carry guns. All with proper training of course.

 @9J7SBWL from California  answered…1yr1Y

I think the security and trained professional should be allowed to hold them in case of emergencies but they should be in a place where no accidents can occur.

 @9HXP7QW from California  answered…1yr1Y

Teachers should be able to have a silent emergency button that allows the front office to open a LOCKER gun put away just in case of an active school shorting.

 @9GFHFYW from California  answered…2yrs2Y

No teacher should have to carry a gun, but if the gun restrictions don't happen soon then I believe they should if they feel they have to resort to it.

 @9FLYDQYIndependent  from California  answered…2yrs2Y

No absolutely not you have all these weird teachers and they are allowed to have a gun possibly making a student feel threatened or uncomfortable at school instead of hiring trained security or some sort of police officers on campus.

 @9FKYMT5Independent from California  answered…2yrs2Y

The teachers who want to carry a weapon should go through training and sign documents about the misuse of the weapon.

 @9FKVWG9 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes but the teacher should have gun training and should have no criminal record what so ever.

 @9FKPTWB from California  answered…2yrs2Y

I think that if a teacher has all the training possible and it's locked and can only be opened by office personnel by a button or something of that kind.

 @9FJGBW8 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Absolutely not, teachers have to do a variety of things throughout the day and it could be exhausting carrying around a firearm all day, also if they are working with kids, kids get very curious and this could lead to scaring the children or accidents. I believe only trained security should have a defense weapon on them with proper licensing and evaluation.

 @9FJ8G99 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

While it is a valid point to arm teachers and prevent shootings of children in that way, the teachers should undergo psych evals and stricter background checks, should they wish to take a gun to school, as should any armed individual who wishes to be around children.

 @9FFGCD6 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DYQQHB from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Only if the teacher wants to, and they have to take firearm and mental safety checks every year.

 @9BYZSLT from California  answered…2yrs2Y

yes as long it is locked up in a secure gun box where there is no chance of a child getting ahold of it and if the teacher has proper training and they get mentally checked

 @9BV7H96Republican from California  answered…2yrs2Y

If they prove that they can handle a gun and know how to use it and they are careful with it, yes, they should. And if there is a shooter, I believe that the teacher should shoot the shooter because the shooter is putting lives at risk.

 @9BP2NN6 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

All teachers should be required to be able to obtain and possess a firearm legally and should be trained in gun safety as a part of their credentials and should only have access to such things in the event that there is a shooting

 @96LSQXV from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Teachers should. I feel as though because in recent times there have been counts of individuals targeting the school and children within, if teachers were trained for scenarios as such then it would be more secure

 @96KB7ZZ from California  answered…3yrs3Y

ya but i think that the students should have no idea where the firearm is kept on the person and no idea where the firearm is when not on its person

 @96HJ5KK from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @96FPGV4 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but police should be better prepared to handle these situations and we should prevent the circumstances that lead to school shooting.

 @95ZFLXY from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Teachers must go through an extensive program, take a law and ethics exam, and a license if the school allows teachers to hold weaponry. This is so teachers who are either corrupt or just not able to handle a gun are not allowed to carry guns.

 @95QQV97 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95QNR9JPeace and Freedom from California  answered…3yrs3Y

each teacher or security guard should carry a gun in case of emergency but never show it off to the kids or tell the kids where it is located in the classroom unless needed.

 @95M6FDR from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @938G29V from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92ZVJLG from California  answered…3yrs3Y

If they are trained and have passed all psychological exams to ensure safety, they should have top tell the county police and the school district if they decide to carry.

 @92QP4CP from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes and NO. Yes because just in case of an emergency the teacher would be able to protect their students. But No because what if one of the kids gets a hold of the gun and uses it? That wouldn't be good.

 @92PS6G4Republican from California  answered…3yrs3Y

If the teacher has a very clean background and goes through multiple classes

 @92HLW7F from California  answered…3yrs3Y

No, hire professionally trained security guards holding taser guns, and shall only be used in extreme situations.

 @92GC7RS from California  answered…3yrs3Y

They should be allowed to have CCW after checks and training to protect themselves and our children from outside criminals.

 @923RGR3 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

I think teachers that are trusted by the state should be able to hold a gun.

 @8ZG5HFD from California  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, if they have the proper training and authorization, and a stable background check. Also secure storage

 @8Z4PH8X from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8YV5DKFRepublican from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8YV6JBL from California  answered…3yrs3Y

yes i believe at least a few teachers should be able to carry a gun in case of potential domestic terrorist threats.

 @8XJ4M7RPeace and Freedom from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but the teacher must be background checked for any possible red flags.

 @8WM542Q from California  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8W6728G from California  answered…4yrs4Y

If a teacher is certified by a local police department or state, I think teachers should be allowed to conceal carry.

 @8W5SL3ZRepublican from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if the teacher in ownership of said firearm is well trained and has already been tested for mental illness or criminal records

 @8VYFTPJ from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if the teacher is trained in handling a gun properly, etc.

 @8VX4N25 from California  answered…4yrs4Y

No, some teachers could get angry and shoot a kid. Not everyone is perfect. What I think we should do, though, is put more security on campus.

 @8VN6MST from California  answered…4yrs4Y

No, hire professionally trained security. But do strict background checks before hiring.

 @8VG2VBB from California  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V8YGCS from California  answered…4yrs4Y

I think teachers should be allowed to hold pepper spray on them at all times and have access to a bulletproof shelter in case of a shooting.

 @8TSYBMQ from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but only if they have gone threw all the requirements to have one so in case of a school shooter situation they can protect there class in case of emergency

 @8TMTQK5Transhumanist from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Hire security guards instead AND NO it would increase the risk of accidental shootings.

 @8SB9Z7H from California  answered…4yrs4Y

if they want but to have checks on themself and know how to use it and keep where no kid knows where but can tell students that they have one

 @8RC4THJ from California  answered…4yrs4Y

No there should just be more armed guards and let the teachers stick to teaching

 @8R74L45 from California  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe that they should for protection of themselves and their students against any intruders. but also i would so to have a really serious background check

 @8QLSKCJ from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, as long as the teacher is trained and would only use a gun in an emergency, like a criminal is around, that way a teacher can keep the children safe.

 @8PBRY42 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8NX253X from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes Obviously with much education and to ensure the mental stability of the teacher or staffer.

 @8MS75V2 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8LZDD7C from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes and no. Sure guns can be hold by teachers. But only small fire arms

 @8LS54T9 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

There should be a trained, and strictly tested teacher to have a fire arm that is locked away from students, and is voluntary

 @8LRGGL5 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, only if these teachers are professionally trained or have some type of military background.

 @8LPC98SRepublican from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8K644XK from California  answered…5yrs5Y

At least one teacher or security guard, with an extensive background check along with training.

 @8JZPGGC from California  answered…5yrs5Y

No, the problem with this is that crossfire is a thing. However I do think schools should have at least 3 security guards that are veteran/professionally trained with access to a database of the records of most "at risk" kids.

 @8JS5NZB from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8J776ZM from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but on a voluntary basis and after having completed a firearms safety course.

 @8HSSPF8 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8HRDKGR from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Not because it can increase the risk of accidental death, and the risk of danger, but if they can hire trained and experienced guards.

 @8H8C5CZ from California  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8FZLTPY from California  answered…5yrs5Y

no, BUT i believe that there should be plenty of school police who are trained professionally

 @8FWNXSNJustice party member from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes I agree with teacher carrying weapons and I also agree with hiring trained professionals

 @8FK35YC from California  answered…5yrs5Y

yes just in case someone trying to come in class and trying to kill one of her kids

 @8F8CL8B from California  answered…5yrs5Y

No, because this would increase the risk of accidental and purposeful shootings. Hire professionally trained guards instead

 @8F8B4QHDemocrat from California  answered…5yrs5Y

I believe they should carry a legally owned gun with a strict background check and have more than 24 hours of experience
