Yes but give teachers the option and those who take that option should be given yearly training by a state police academy

 @8JFZPLHAmerican from Ohio  answered…5yrs5Y

 @9F2NV2D from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but they need to be licensed and they should be secured safely away from students.

 @9DXKXZH from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

teachers with professional training should be allowed to carry weapons on school property to protect students

 @97TXQJG from Ohio  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, teachers should be allowed to carry guns at school only if there has been multiple shootings.

With many hours of gun safety training, firearm handling safety, properly fitting holsters when worn in the building. Also no open carry in the building. You must also have a specific badge or some type of something to identify you as someone who carries.

 @B5HMMC6 from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

I guess yes, but let's address the social issues that no one wants to acknowledge exist that makes teachers want to carry them in the first place.

 @B5H33JZ from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

No, if there is a teacher that seems unstable and has access to a firearm, then there will be more issues in shootings.

 @B5FRWNR from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

No, the teacher could abuse the right to carry a gun, and it's better to let trained security deal with active shooters

 @B56VPVT from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

No, because it could increase the risk of accidental (or intentional) shootings. Hire more professionally trained security guards instead.

 @B54B8FY from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

i think they should be able to have guns but only if they know how to use it and only keep it in there desk for when theres a shooting to protect themselves and the kids

 @B4YXGKR  from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

No, this could increase the rate of shootings in school. They shouldn't be allowed near the school, instead have trained police officers.

 @B4YWXKT from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

That could lead to someone getting hurt, meaning by the kids because what if one of the kids finds the gun on the classroom.

 @B4YWL9Z from Ohio  answered…2mos2MO

There's pros and cons to each a yes or a no answer, so it technically should be up for the school boards to decide and the area that that school is in.

 @B4X9BGB from Ohio  answered…3mos3MO

For a teacher to bring a fire arm into school grond it should be required that they have training and not every teacher should have a fire arm.

 @B4JDGZ5 from Ohio  answered…3mos3MO

Yes teachers should be allowed to carry guns in public schools to migait violence and disruption from students who are impairing the learning environment.

 @B4BZQPL from Ohio  answered…3mos3MO

Teachers should be allowed after extensive background checks, tests of reliability, and other gun safety training

 @B43JMBZRepublican from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

Could add hire risk. But I think certain teachers should be allowed. Not all, because there are usualyl already school officers.

 @B3SVS8N from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

There should be a security guard or two that is armed, but I feel like teachers being armed would be unsafe, given they could lack training, have it in a room available to an unstable student, or be unstable themselves.

 @B3SDNG6 from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but they should go through strict background checks to make sure they can properly handle the gun

 @B3S6YDH from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but they should be very monitored and trained. There should also be a stricter process before they can carry in the school.

 @B3K995SPeace and Freedom from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

I think teachers should be allowed to have one gun per classroom but they have to be in a safe and put out of reach of students.

 @B3K2XYS from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

For both 4 and 5, I think a security guard who is highly trained in his field would be better than a teacher who has possession of the weapon as a student COULD get ahold of it. While I also think it could be good to have an armed guard around in emergency situations like an intruder/shooter.

 @B3HBCGN from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

There is not a yes, or no answer this question all teachers are not capable of using a gun mentally or physically. This should only be specifically designated persons in a school that have weapons.

 @B3CPJRP from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but only with a high level of competency and training with a gun and a psychological evaluation

 @B35NKW5 from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, but require any teachers that choose to carry guns in school to undergo rigorous firearms safety training at regular intervals.

 @B32NT8Z from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, however teachers should only be allowed to have them after training and they must be in a locked container

 @B2ZWZ7T from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Allow the teachers to bring fire arms for the protection of the students and staff, and makes the school shootings least likely to happen.

 @B2Y7ZDN from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Only with proper background checks and agreement by school board, remember that bad people tend to go after people that can't do anything about it, schools being quite restrictive cause them to be one of said targets.

 @B2Y3M6Z from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

I think it should be up to the discretion of the school. No gun carrying should be required, but if more teachers carried they’d have a greater opportunity to defend themselves and the students, perhaps there would be less school shootings

 @B2VYQ3J from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, if they have a license for a concealed carry, but they should keep it put away at all times unless an emergency

 @B2VVDNT from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, but only with extremely strict background checks, psychological evaluation, and extensive training. A professional security guard would also help. Teachers should also be taught psychology to help students struggling with their mental health.

 @B2SQ64R from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Teachers should be aloud to have guns in their drawer but not carry it around school at all times with them.

 @B2SKV55 from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

They should be allowed to have it stored in a locked box that can only be opened by a code or finger print that may only be used in the event of a lock down that has a confirmed armed intruder or trespasser.

 @B2RNHYM  from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

Add more dogs, put (clean) guard dogs in the classroom. They need a purpose too and they hate guns or any sort of violence.

 @B2QJ7QH from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

The only reason why some teachers should be armed is if they have a good background check and make sure no students can get a hold of the item

 @B2MB22D from Ohio  answered…5mos5MO

yes but only with strict background checks and routine drug tests because the more people who have the abilities to protect the students and staff the better

 @B2HZKXCConstitution from Ohio  answered…6mos6MO

No, some students could get ahold of the gun an bad stuff happens that’s why yall got police officers in the school

  @Cuz-I-Know-Stuff from Ohio  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, schools should require at least one teacher or security guard to be armed

#4 Engaged Domestic Policy Informed Armed Teachers

Yes

Yes. With the increased amount of school shootings there should be at least an armed security guard and at least five teachers that are trained to eliminate threats quickly and protect students and staff members. We don't want children sitting in a corner helpless now do we? As a 16 year old myself, I completely support the idea of armed teachers.

 @B2GGC5X from Ohio  answered…6mos6MO

There should be police in every schools but teachers should not carry because it would make more access to guns.

 @B2DN3NM from Ohio  answered…6mos6MO

Teachers should be allowed to keep a gun with them but should be forced to take training, and keep it locked up.

 @B2DBLBH from Ohio  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, if they have proper checks on their mental health each year and are trained on how to use it properly and keep it locked up and away from children.

 @B2CGJTJ from Ohio  answered…6mos6MO

At least one teacher in each grade should have one, but the teacher that carries the gun needs to go through special training before they are allowed to carry on in School. Not every school is lucky enough to have an officer present in the School. School shootings are on the uprising every school year.

 @B23ZYYW from Ohio  answered…7mos7MO

I would prefer assigned police officers and security guards working in schools hours with their firearms since they are more professionally trained.

 @9ZYXZ69Democrat from Ohio  answered…7mos7MO

This entire website should be banned at this point, just because your a teacher, does not mean your trusting to have a gun.

 @9ZXM7LV from Ohio  answered…7mos7MO

YES, but only if the firearms are kept in office controlled lockboxes that are only to be opened in real emergencies.

 @9ZQD2CN from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

schools is suppose to be a safe place for everyone It should be that bad to the point teachers and security are needed to be armed to protect people from threats

 @9ZP6B3GRepublican from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I think that instead of that there should be one teacher or administrator that is properly trained and is allowed to have a weapon in a locked box

 @9ZHY9TQ from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I feel like all schools should at least have 2 security guards that are armed also the people in the office.

 @9ZGYV2L from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

yes but there should be tests and screenings on the teacher to make sure they will use it only for safety matters and are in the right mental headspace.

 @9ZFK35DWomen’s Equality from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but have them all trained and retrained every 2 years, and have the gun locked up in a safe, but accessible in the event of a shooting.

 @9ZDL6LK from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, But only if there a pertinent and its ok with the school. also out of reach form any other student.

 @9Z9M6RD from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

No one should have a gun in school, this shouldn't be a concern if there were stricter gun laws and mental health resources.

 @9YML3M2 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but there should be a limit on how many and if a teacher is allowed for a gun, apply strict training, background checks, and psychological screening.

 @9YMJCVC from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

In high schools yes for protection but they have to get really strict rules like it has to be office controled lock boxes that are secure to the minute detail and not tell the students so they don’t go for the office first and lower the chances of survivabolity

 @9YKCZX3 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but they should have an extreme background check !! And not all of the teachers should have guns.

 @9YJR369 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I feel like teachers should only carry a small knife or pepper spray , A gun will create to much distraction and also could go off and trigger any time .

 @9YB59QTDemocrat from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I think schools should have security or even some police officers there to have guns in case of an emergency, but not teachers.

 @9Y9BYM3 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I feel like they should just in case a shooter comes in the school, but they should go through extreme background checks to be qualified to have one.

 @9Y8F2DH from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

yeah and no, I think that students should be able to carry firearms along with teachers at the same time I don't think so because kids nowadays are too stupid to do any of that and will mostly kill or shoot someone.

 @9Y7NZQFIndependent from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, teachers should be gun trained and licensed but have choice to carry and it should be determined by district.

 @9Y5YY8PRepublican from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I think only certain staff should be able to carry for example. vice principals and principles and I think they should have body guards supplied by the government that carry.

 @9Y3P286 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes but with extreme training and screening and proper safety measures such as a camera that turns on such as a cops body camera in order to monitor the situation as soon as the gun is in someone’s hand

 @9Y3BQC4 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I thin there should be secretly selected people allowed to carry guns in the school do give a higher amount of protection

 @9XZWNFDPeace and Freedom from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Teachers should carry a gun but it should be locked up during school hours unless in case of emergency

 @9XXJZP2No Labels from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

it is important to make sure of the safety of the teachers and students so by letting them have weapons they can insure the safety of of the students and other teachers.

 @9XXH4N3 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I think this depends on how big your school is or how its built and how many floors but I think we should have 1-3 teachers on each floor with a gun

 @9XXBL9W from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I believe teachers should be armed or allowed to carry a firearm but they required to have very in depth training course and must be 100% mentally ok or background search

 @9XWKT3HNo Labels from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, there should be many armed teachers and security guards, but the guns should be required to be in a safe, and the gun should not have the ability to become automatic, it should remain at the likes of a Glock or other small semi auto pistol.

 @9XW52LN from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

should have very serious checks and teachers should have it simply for emergencies if they have it at all.

 @9XTX9YJ from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

yes, but hidden to everyone only teacher knows and have a key for it and only pulled out when a lock down.

 @9XT3Z82 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

They should have a full fledged background check and make sure they are liable to carry a gun on them

 @9XQL22TIndependent from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes but it should be voluntary and the educator must have gun safety training and psychological testing

 @9XP7NSJ  from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

If they have background check and training. Limit amount per school and hire professionally trained security guards as well.

 @9XNNZWN from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

we shouldn't even be asking this question, teachers shouldn't have to protect themselves from people shooting up a school

 @9XLDWRFDemocrat from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I don't think teachers should be allowed to carry guns, however, I do think that better security within schools could be a good choice. I think more people owning guns adds to the problem instead of getting to a solution.

 @9XKRPYN from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I believe that Teachers in low income areas that could be endangered at any point in time should have the right to at least some personal protection whether that be a fire-arm or simply a baseball bat. I believe there should a lengthy legal process in which the teacher could carry a weapon and they would require training to handle that firearm. This is all hypothetical, so my answer is more in the middle. Yes they should have rights to protect themselves within low income areas with dangers in the school building, yet I have not yet seen a viable way to make this work.

 @9XKNNJT from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Adding guns into the building makes it a lot worse. 1 teacher can't overpower 4 kids from a random attack when they want a gun. To much of a risk and isn't a smart move at all.

 @9XJYRLG from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Any teacher should have the ability to keep his students safe and having a gun on him will help if a school shooter walks in

 @9XJYK8L from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Other states such as New Mexico some schools allow teachers to carry a firearm in the event of a school shooting I think that should be the same for all schools just let the community vote on weather or not the school carries or not.

 @9XJTWJW from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I say yes to protect sutdents and teachers but of course with extreme safety measures if it is in a classroom.

 @9XJSBJX from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

There are some times when teachers may or may not need them as in like a lockdown with someone breaking into the school. Kids should not know that the teachers have one and teachers should keep it locked in a drawer away from students, the only people that should know about the guns other than staff and head of the school is parents.

 @9XJKWXJ from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

I say both yes and no because it can increase shootings because some kid could get ahold of it but then also its better for someone to have one here when there is an active shooter so we arent waiting around for the police

 @9XGGM78 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but these teachers should be selected by the school and/or law enforcement and undergo strict training procedures to be allowed to do so.

 @9XG2HMR from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, But only allow a ratio of 1/2 of all the teachers. And for the ones that have guns to be put on a list kept in an office

 @9XFJH95 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

As long as the teacher is very well trained and can handle the situation. If not non lethal weapons like tier gas should be used.

 @9XFGJ6B  from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

yes they should be allowed if they want to as long as they are licensed regesterd and clases should be requierd

 @9XD83Q9 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

harden the targets schools present. locked doors when not in use, metal detectors, similar to courthouses or jails. they already eat like prisoners, lets flesh out the atmosphere.

 @9XB5CNV from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but they would need training, background check, and byeweekly therapist talkings to understand there mental state.
