Christian Democracy is a political ideology that emerged in the 19th and 20th centuries, primarily in Europe and Latin America. It seeks to apply Christian principles to public policy. Its origins can be traced back to the social teachings of the Catholic Church, particularly as articulated in Pope Leo XIII's encyclical "Rerum Novarum" in 1891, which addressed the conditions of the working classes and introduced the concept of social justice.
Christian Democracy is characterized by its commitment to social market principles and qualified interventionism. It advocates…

How do you approach understanding and respecting beliefs that are vastly different from your own?
@9HPSJRC2yrs2Y
I believe that you should always respect other people's beliefs no matter if they disagree with you
@Patriot-#1776Constitution11mos11MO
I only respect people's beliefs if they are true. If they are not, I try to persuade them otherwise.
@9HPSJZS2yrs2Y
i dont care if you believe something else just dont push it on me
@9HPSKFM2yrs2Y
I think everyone has a right to freedom of religion
@9HPSKTV2yrs2Y
I support them even though they are not my own because people should have a right to believe what the want to
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would you balance compassion and practicality when crafting laws that affect vulnerable populations?
@9JGYBMD 1yr1Y
The seperation of church and state have been a cornerstone for the american people since the begining of the country. In the beggining the founding fathers kept them seperate but used christianity to guide their Ideals and this worked for a long time. With the introduction of Atheism this values have declined along with other things in the country getting better. The combination of running a christian country using atheism values will not work. The combination of running a atheist country using christian values will not work. The country needs to be guided as an Atheist group or as a Christian group but leading them as both is deystroying the country.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution11mos11MO
Separation of church and state is a lie
@9JH2ZQ41yr1Y
No one person can force their religion onto others. What you believe may not be what someone else believes, therefore your laws have to be fair and by the constitution. No one person can please all, but there is a clear distinction in a law that favors one side or the other.
@9JGXNNF1yr1Y
I think that we should not use this because we should be able to choose what we want based on popular majority
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can you describe an instance where treating someone with respect changed the outcome of a difficult conversation?
Treating someone with respect can shift their attitude towards you.
@Drew-DoehringRepublican 1yr1Y
By treating others with respect, they will be more willing to have an open-dialogue with you on matters of importance of which you may disagree.
@9KPJZBR1yr1Y
Treating someone with respect would cause less arguments because it would confuse their minds and make them be quite
it showed me what they thought of the conversation
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Can Christian Democracy reconcile its conservative moral stances with progressive social justice goals?
@9H4Z8DD2yrs2Y
Religious groups have allows been able to make slight adjustment to their believes to allow progression with the times to fit with their religious groups. Thus Christian Democracy can reconcile with progressive social justice.
@9H4ZSGL2yrs2Y
No, conservative values cannot reconcile with progressive values. The morally superior values are progressive ones which seek to improve the current status of the world. Religious texts cannot be the basis of governance as they can be interpreted by members of the same faith differently. In addition, it is impossible to logically choose one religious interpretation to follow. There is no logical case for the Torah vs the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible vs the Quran, etc.
@9H4ZNYHProgressive2yrs2Y
no, christianity does not have conservative moral values. Jesus was a social activist. the people who believe are the people who take the bible literally which they should not because it it not the word of God yet Jesus' deciples. the conservative teachings the we should "leave each other alone" is not a Christian belief. Christianity teaches about community.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
When have you seen a compromise work effectively to resolve a dispute involving ethics and fairness?
@9HPSJY52yrs2Y
When people come together to decide to whether or not to do something.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
What does the term 'ethical governance' mean to you, and how can it be applied in everyday leadership?
@9HTG5D92yrs2Y
Christian democracy more like Christian fundimencracy
@9HTFWHX2yrs2Y
I believe that the government shouldn’t be able to decide what’s moral and what’s not, but rather have that jurisdiction up to fields within the country, such as doctors being able to be for abortion from a strictly medical standpoint.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Do you think incorporating Christian ethics into politics compromises or upholds the separation of church and state?
@9HCVVFF2yrs2Y
It does nither, the vast majority of our laws are based off of Christian values; whether or not you call it Christian democracy.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What personal experiences have shaped your perspectives on giving and receiving help within your community?
@9JHDFM3Libertarian1yr1Y
Unconstitutional 1st amendment bill of rights free religion
@9JHDCGF1yr1Y
Acting like a good person builds everyone up and non misguided Christian values does that.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
In what ways can individuals foster a culture of respect and dignity in their daily interactions?
@9JRH4SL1yr1Y
Treat people with more respect and stop having biases against people.
@9JRHCSDRepublican1yr1Y
Having mutual respect and understanding for eachother
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How does your personal definition of what it means to be a good citizen influence your political opinions?
@9JHF3MNLibertarian1yr1Y
100%. How can these be separated? A good citizen is honest, humble, self-reliant, protective, measured in speech and, above all, does not infringe on the rights of others.
@9JHDXBD1yr1Y
Well I was raised one way, so I don't really know how to think other ways.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Have you ever had to defend a belief that was unpopular, and what did you learn from it?
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Can you think of a time when your personal values clashed with a policy decision, and how did you reconcile the two?
@9HPSJY52yrs2Y
People sometimes will put their personal values before everyone else's.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What action can we take as individuals when we see social inequalities in our daily environments?
@9L8JL661yr1Y
Acknowledge that Christian Democracy is a real problem and listen to other people's voices, especially of those who have experienced social inequalities.
@9L8P6WV1yr1Y
The idea of a christian democracy is a social inequality in and of itself. Many people practice many different religions. To enforce christian ideologies, in which most of them aren't related to modern times or even well-being isn't a good idea. We should always advocate for each other's individuality, because that's where all human rights stem from.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How do you perceive the importance of trust in the relationships between citizens and their government?
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Is it possible for a political ideology rooted in religion to remain inclusive in a diverse and multicultural society?
@9HDFBGXIndependent2yrs2Y
It’s possible if their principles align with political liberalism, but I’m skeptical of it working in practice
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What actions do you take to ensure that your choices align with your moral compass?
@9JS5KVCConstitution1yr1Y
As a Methodist I follow my religion but would never force it on anyone.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How does the concept of 'fair play' in sports relate to fairness in society?
@9L3GQTKRepublican1yr1Y
Fair play in sports has to do with the fact that both the players were set at an equal skill level with equal amounts of training. It boils down to who messed up and caused the other person to win. Everyone in society is set at an equal playing field, everyone has equal opportunities, it just boils down to who takes those opportunities and runs with them to succeed.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What's one act of selflessness you've witnessed that made a strong impact on your view of community?
@9KMM53C1yr1Y
"Christian Democracy" is a deflection for bigotry and hate. They are not selfless, but the greedy and selfish.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How can we as a society encourage leaders to prioritize the well-being of all citizens, not just the majority?
@9JHDRG51yr1Y
Theocracy and democracy do not mix. Christian democracy is like saying "libertarian fascism" or "communist capitalism". It's nonsensical. Democracy must be secular.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can you describe a moment when witnessing or experiencing fairness made a lasting impression on you?
I remember that when I was 7, my best friend had been told off by her partner because we had been up to some kind of trouble. Usually, when I misbehaved at my friend's houses their parents resigned from disciplining me, however, her mother pulled me aside and personally told me what I had done wrong. This made me understand that there is no amnesty and that I should always behave my best.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Recall a time when you helped someone not out of obligation, but because of your personal values; what was the outcome?
Work in I.T. Blind kid wanted to play Minecraft. Boss was going to charge them $125 an hour for setup. It was really complex. I told my boss it couldn't be done and called the mother privately anf offered it for free.
Kid should get to play his games man, **** charging hundreds for some 13 y/o to play a video game like a normal kid.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What role do you think kindness and generosity should play in shaping government policies?
@9JHDXNB 1yr1Y
You can’t legislate morality, but you can’t have a moral government when the voters require legislation in order to be moral.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
When has a community or national issue prompted you to reflect on what it means to be a compassionate citizen?
@9J4BHMS1yr1Y
Most citizens who deem themself Christian are hateful towards homosexuals etc. I think that that idea is completely contradicting and makes you think about the real care that others have for one another.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Can you recall an act of kindness that you believe was inspired by someone's faith or ethical principles?
@9J6SRFPRepublican1yr1Y
giving food to homeless or struggling people always makes me think that person is faithful to God
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Why do you think promoting the common good is more challenging than it seems, and how could this be addressed?
@9LFGGNJ1yr1Y
It challenging because in this age it is easy to look at the negatives and rough situations of the world. Being a good person can start with anyone.

@9L23R841yr1Y
Wisdom, strength, honesty, leadership, effectiveness
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How can we balance our personal ambitions with contributing to the greater good of society?
@9L5Z7VR1yr1Y
We need to make sure that everyone is represented no matter what the circumstance
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would you explain the importance of social equity to someone unfamiliar with the concept?
@9JS5M2L1yr1Y
Social Equity promotes Social Fairness and Social Justice for everyone
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
In what ways might Christian Democratic values contribute to or challenge the way we view human dignity and social justice?
@9HSJHBX2yrs2Y
How can basing democracy around a religion be democratic?
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
Should politicians use religious principles as a guide for creating laws in a secular society?
@9HF5DQSRepublican2yrs2Y
I believe that politicians can side with what there religion goes with but they cant enforce there religion on everyone
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
What's a personal value you hold that you'd like to see more of in the world, and how could this be encouraged?
@9L9DFSK1yr1Y
I would like to see more understanding and less ignorance in the world. Even if people are different then you, you shouldn't be mad or scared about it.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How do you think we can foster a sense of responsibility towards the vulnerable in society?
@9L2DVTH1yr1Y
There should be a strict separation of church and state.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Why do you think people are inspired to take action on social justice issues?
@9L5H8YH1yr1Y
The fact that to this day there are still many inequality in many social things
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
When have you felt most proud of your community's response to a social issue, and why?
@9L3WNDF1yr1Y
I feel most proud of my local community’s response to the homeless and at-risk mothers. Caring for the vulnerable is needed, and I think my community shows up for them with tangible help like food, counseling, and training to get people off the streets and capable of raising a child.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y

@9L25MPK1yr1Y
By seeking common values and goals, we can work towards a society that respects tradition and embraces progress
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How could acts of individual charity contribute to larger societal changes?
@9L8JHV51yr1Y
People feel more included no matter their belief and are supported and happy communities
