In April 2019, Congress passed the Taxpayer First Act which made it illegal for the IRS to create its own online system of tax filing. The IRS system would allow taxpayers to file their taxes on the IRS website without having to pay to use private tax filing services or software. Tax software companies including the maker of TurboTax and H&R Block lobbied congress to pass the bill. Countries including Spain, Denmark and Sweden use a “return-fee filing system that gives taxpayers pre-filled forms using information from employers and banks. Proponents argue that the free filing system would save a collective $2 billion and 225 million hours in prep costs and time. Opponents, including Intuit the maker of TurboTax, argue that such a system would cause taxpayers to make mistakes in their fillings and end up paying more in taxes.

Yes, and tax codes should be simplified so regular citizens don't need advanced training to be able to accurately pay their taxes
@9D4ZTQFLibertarian2yrs2Y
Yes, but I would rather reform the tax code to make the IRS irrelevant.
@9XQ6CS2Libertarian7mos7MO
Yes, you shouldn't have to pay to recieve or pay money rightfully earned. IRS / income tax should be abolished.
@9G4KBDJLibertarian 2yrs2Y
Yes, it should be easy and free to lawfully file taxes. But if there were an option to abolish the IRS that would be my go to.
@9BWMNGVLibertarian2yrs2Y
Yes, but I would prefer to eliminate income taxes and abolish the IRS (or greatly diminish its power).
@8HSXJ73Libertarian5yrs5Y
The IRS should be abolished, Tax is theft
@8H7G69JLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, but a flat tax rate for all should be established for all.
@8H36K8ZLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, but I would prefer to abolish the IRS in favor of a flat tax.
@88B5JYSLibertarian5yrs5Y
I would prefer to eliminate income taxes and abolish the IRS, but unless that is done I support a free system, or lowering the price of tax filing services. A lot of people make just enough in tax returns to PAY for filing their taxes and that seems unfair.
@8DBWS63Libertarian5yrs5Y
No, but also eliminate income tax
@8CN4798Libertarian5yrs5Y
Simplify taxes, and eliminate the need for tax preparers and audits.
@8CMQP6ZLibertarian5yrs5Y
No, but free classes to educate citizens on how to file taxes should be offered between January and April of every year
@5JBLHDWLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, until the IRS and income tax are eliminated.
@8CF69MRLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, but only for 1040-EZ types of tax returns.
@hunterbonarLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, if income tax is going to be required then filing should be simplified and should not require further expense for citizens
@9C2JPSTLibertarian2yrs2Y
No because I do not trust the IRS
@9BXHLQN2yrs2Y
Yes, as long as people have the option to file taxes using the traditional system
@5JBLHDWLibertarian2yrs2Y
Yes, but I would rather simplify the tax system.
@99NDNBFLibertarian2yrs2Y
Yes, but we should abolish the 17th amendment instead.
@99LVJBTLibertarian2yrs2Y
Yes, but I would to eliminate income taxes and abolish the IRS
@9975KHGLibertarian2yrs2Y
On paper it's a good idea but it's too easy too take advantage of
@98LQ77RLibertarian2yrs2Y
The IRS should be abolished completely
@984TB8XLibertarian3yrs3Y
Perhaps? Don't we already have free electronic tax filing systems?
@8XZZ8YTLibertarian3yrs3Y
Yes, and income taxation should be a flat 17% for all income over 35,000 USD per year.
@8BC793VLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, our taxes pay for the IRS to exist. Also, tax prep companies lobbied Washington to prevent anyone making over a certain amount from utilizing IRS services for tax preparation. Deep down, big businesses really like regulation!
@8FWCWJHLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, but I prefer to eliminate income taxes
@vshenkoLibertarian4yrs4Y
Regardless, I don't believe tax returns should exist as I believe we should switch to a flat tax with no deductions
@85JC5ZXLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, and we should make our taxation system much simpler
