I think it will lead to bigger problems, I think that the more we fund homeless shelters, the more the homeless take advantage of it and not want to leave or even try to get out of the shelter and start a new style of life

If you give more of those they wont get a job and rely on them to give them everything

 @9VNBS86 from Alabama  answered…8mos8MO

Most homeless people already struggle with money due to addictions. They need health issues solved first.

 @9WHXHV6Peace and Freedom from Iowa  commented…8mos8MO

it is so bad for theme to no homeless kids struggle with money due to addictions. They need health issues solved first and they are poor.

 @9WGGKLZ from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

No, although for a moment it'll help, for the most part it will create a relying society.

 @9WGC5SRDemocrat  from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

It might, but further measures should include a method of creating jobs just like how the federal government stimulates the economy by creating jobs. It will also lead to challenges like free riders, so there must be nuanced, reasonable guidelines that must be followed in order to attain access to homeless shelters and aid.

 @9WGDGHNGreen from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

Redesigning affordable housing to focus on "box homes" scaled in mass (e.g. current estimated cost is around $1000-$6000 as home components are inexpensive compared to the land home resides on).

It would help some but it would also cause others to take advantage of the privileges that would be available for them.

 @9WS23HMIndependent  from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

Funding for mental health is more beneficial than homeless shelter funding.

 @9WRZH9C from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

I believe it will help as long as there is a right plan, so instead of just giving every homeless person into homeless shelters, take into consideration their case and see what suits best.

 @9WR8GRJ from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

No, i think it would help. In my home country it has been proven to keep people off the streets.

 @9WR696D from Pennsylvania  answered…8mos8MO

I think increasing the housing supply and helping these folks get back on their feet through some kind of special rehab program for the homeless needs to be made, a lot of homeless people, a lot of mental health issues, lots of drug addiction, it would be a disservice to those vulnerable folks to just throw them in a shelter whilst not having a turnover or rehabilitation process to get them back into the work force and general productive society.

 @9WR54CP from Michigan  answered…8mos8MO

No I think you solve this by going at the core of why did they become homeless who were they before etc. mental health and job loss are high causes for homelessness. Almost nobody wakes up and decides to be homeless because they are that lazy.

 @9WR5JZQ from New Jersey  answered…8mos8MO

This would be extremely helpful. There is no reason we should be sending billions of dollars to foreign wars when we have such a humanitarian crisis in so many cities around our country. We should set up safe shelters that give people the opportunity to rehabilitate and create pathways for them to lead more productive lifestyles, not enable whatever behaviors, habits, or mental illnesses have relegated them to living on the streets to begin with.

 @9WR5FST from Florida  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WR5BY4 from Maryland  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WQZS7Q from Kansas  answered…8mos8MO

We need strict reform programs to help homeless people get back on their feet and back to being stable productive members of society. Homeless shelters need a reformed system.

 @9WQYYCYLibertarian from Georgia  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WQXZRJ from South Carolina  answered…8mos8MO

It will lead to other challenges because most of the funsa will end up just paying for the salaries of the directors who run the shelters or programs.

 @9WQXDXR  from West Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

I think it would help to get people off of their feet and give the opportunity to improve lives and decrease the homeless population. With that being said, I think the more important issue is to provide mental health support and opportunities to these individuals who may be homeless due to internal struggles. Increasing funding may provide a bandaid option but not totally fix the underlying problems.

 @9WQVKTKRepublican from California  answered…8mos8MO

It will lead to other challenges. There are so many reasons unhoused persons deny shelters or don't quality for housing. There are other problems to focus on first, mental health, substance abuse, and affordable housing.

 @9WQT7DB from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

People try to regulate these homes, give them a place to go and if they turn it into a drug den that is their business, however if they want to keep it clean, lights on and what not they can help in participating in the maintenance of said building

 @9WQRZX7Republican from Georgia  answered…8mos8MO

It will lead to other challenges as anytime you give anyone anything somebody will complain that well you didn't give me that much

 @9WQPPMB from Pennsylvania  answered…8mos8MO

Other challenges because majority of the homeless don’t want help just want drugs

I think that other challenges will arise as to be expected, but it will allow for more people to have a safe place and be cared for. It could create safer communities and help people have a support network to escape their circumstances

 @9WQMHR3Working Family from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

it will help and lead to more difficulties but i believe that those difficulties could be overcome if the community came together

 @9WQM5X6Democrat from Massachusetts  answered…8mos8MO

since most homeless people already struggle financially due to addictions, I believe it will lead to other challenges and that they should prioritize health care

 @83TQXTB  from California  answered…8mos8MO

If they are not tied to mandatory psychiatric treatment, they will solve nothing.

 @9WQLHMW from Nevada  answered…8mos8MO

No. The biggest problem is that man homeless people don't want to be in the shelters.

 @9WQKPTKWomen’s Equality from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

it might lead to other challengaes but everyone needs somewhere to stay and make sure they aren't being mistreated

 @9WQJSF5Democrat from Rhode Island  answered…8mos8MO

I think increasing for homeless shelters would truly help homeless people and those who are in needs.

 @9WQGHRXRepublican from Pennsylvania  answered…8mos8MO

It's hard to determine it might help and might not. But let the states create the shelters instead of leaving them homeless.

 @9WQGCR3 from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WPZ3V3 from California  answered…8mos8MO

I believe that by increasing funding that homeless shelters are given will help to promote and provide these resources to individuals that are unhoused.

 @9WQD86K from California  answered…8mos8MO

I think increasing funding for shelters will truly help because it will give better resources to the homeless and help out shelters financially.

 @9WQFLKC from Washington  answered…8mos8MO

It will probably have new challenges, but it will be worse without them having shelter

 @9WQFFCX from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

It will lead to more challenges, most people who are homeless are homeless for a reason, drug addiction, criminal, etc. Some of them will just end up back on the streets. I just don't think this idea works

 @9WQF9MD from Washington  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WQF6G2 from Washington  answered…8mos8MO

It will open some doors, and shut others. We need to support homeless individuals as a society, but drug use has ran rampant in that community, leading to danger for all groups. We should increase funding to mental healthcare, and support for drug users, but also increase affordable housing for homeless individuals who aren't using.

 @9WQDZ2C from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

We need more rounded vision of how to help the people who are currently homeless. Many struggle with addiction, mental health, or disabilities that put them on the streets in the first place. They need support in a number of areas first, as well as better facilities to house them while they recover, and get on their feet.

 @9WQDJBP from Florida  answered…8mos8MO

Increasing funding could help, but it would not solve homelessness as a whole.

 @9WQD3ML from Nebraska  answered…8mos8MO

there is many homeless people who are not drug addicts or people who are violent it is people who are genuinely trying. People can not do good if they don't even have a fighting chance.

 @9WQ9QY7Independent from Idaho  answered…8mos8MO

probably other challenges, mostly financial in that people in charge won't have the homeless best interests at heart

 @9WQC96Z from Utah  answered…8mos8MO

I don't think it'll matter just get rid of drugs and alcohol and most the homeless population would not exist

 @9WQ32H4 from Nebraska  answered…8mos8MO

I think that it will help, and regardless it needs to happen. There is not enough resources for the homeless and that needs to change.

 @9WQBSJTWomen’s Equality from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

I think there should be reform with homeless shelters. There are shelters available in my current area and many homeless do not want to use them due to conditions of the facility.

 @9WQBM2K from New York  answered…8mos8MO

I'd rather homeless people had a safe place to live while they sorted their lives out than on the streets of the city.

 @9WQBG93 from Colorado  answered…8mos8MO

It will lead to other challenges because most homeless shelters are a place for homeless people to do drugs and take advantage of the resources.

 @9WQBFHP from Wisconsin  answered…8mos8MO

It doesn't matter, if your homeless you've chosen to be by making pour life choices. You obviously are too lazy or dumb to act correctly and have no value to society

 @9WQB9NP from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

More homeless shelters might be a good idea at the time, but after a while they will leech off them for the health benefits.

 @9WQ9VKZ  from Colorado  answered…8mos8MO

Increase funding for shelters. Create a sense of wellbeing for them and create a sanctuary type living space where they can heal, find purpose and transition back into the world.

 @9WQ9C7Q from Illinois  answered…8mos8MO

It will help and probably lead to challenges we cannot think of at the moment

 @9WQ8ZYX from New York  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WQ8ZBX from Missouri  answered…8mos8MO

I think increasing the funding for shelters will help equip them with better utilities for the homeless, but there is the fear that they may start requiring more things from the homeless and/or include a fee.

 @9WQ8GZ6 from Michigan  answered…8mos8MO

Funding should be at a baseline of what they need and more for employee/volunteer incentives. It won't have an affect, if we decrease foreign spending.

 @9WQ7B5YRepublican from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

it would help most people because lots of people don't have lots of money and cant afford a shelter.

 @9WQ6TVB from Pennsylvania  answered…8mos8MO

I believe it will cause other problems such as the cities or towns having more tax or an increase in overdose from drugs due to the mass amount of homeless that take or use drugs.

 @9WQ65PT from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

Shelters shouldn't be the solution in the first place, just make affordable housing

We 100% need increased funding for homeless shelters as well as affordable housing in order to prevent homelessness in the first place

 @9WQ2H35 from Pennsylvania  answered…8mos8MO

This helps to ensure that individuals are able to maintain their health and well-being, and reduces the risk of illness and injury.

 @9WPYWF5 from Arkansas  answered…8mos8MO

I think it will truly help more homless people find a place to stay and live and to live a better life.

 @9WPXVY9Women’s Equality from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WPXVLK from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

I think increasing the funding for shelters will help, especially in bigger cities and places with higher taxes that a lot of people struggle in.

 @9WPW62C from Illinois  answered…8mos8MO

Increasing funding for shelters will allow people to have somewhere to sleep and be safe during harsh weather

 @9WPVTLB from Illinois  answered…8mos8MO

I think it could help, there are many house or apartments in which homeless people can go live in

 @9WPVSRLPeace and Freedom from South Carolina  answered…8mos8MO

No because of the amount of homeless people in the population that will just give them the satisfaction to homeless if you find them just as much as school they wont wanna be better at least most of them. The main reason people push to be rich is because they don't wanna go through the pain of being homeless because no one helps you but if you homeless and get help or increased budgeting the number of homeless people will up because they know they will have help.

 @9WPVQVLRepublican from Pennsylvania  answered…8mos8MO

More challenges, feeding them, keeping them safe and making sure drugs arent present.

 @9WPVJ97 from Washington  answered…8mos8MO

They are already well funded. Lower housing costs and decrease the homeless

 @9WPV7Q8 from Illinois  answered…8mos8MO

It will truly help, in my opinion. The rate of homelessness has drastically increased in the past years, and i would like to be able to walk without encountering a poor doomed soul destined to starvation.

 @9WPRPFH from Louisiana  answered…8mos8MO

just because you make a homeless shelter doesn't mean that they will use them

 @9WPTL3L from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

Truthfully, it may lead to other challenges, but not ones that cannot be fixed with experience and proper regulation. The only way to create a successful system is to start it and then make necessary changes.

 @9WPTHT8Justice party member  from Washington  answered…8mos8MO

No funding to homeless shelters, let them die, we don't want homeless people here!!!

 @9WPSQ5J from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WPSNWW from Utah  answered…8mos8MO

I think it depends on why they are homeless in the first place and what they are doing like if they are just living on the streets or pan handling or using drugs

 @9WPSGKH from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

 @9WPSDKHIndependent from New York  answered…8mos8MO

I think there should be more buildings and access to homeless shelters in big cities

 @9WPS6B6Independent from Colorado  answered…8mos8MO

I think increasing funding will help, as it will allow for greater resource availability for outreach, beds, food, and maybe assistance with seeking permanent residency.

 @9WMRGJQNo Labels from California  answered…8mos8MO

I think more funding is good as long as they are able to help them in a way to get them off the streets and low-income people aren't taxed more.
