No, it’s just transphobia. Most athletes aren’t even trans and represent a small number. An even smaller number for professional athletes. We should focus more on safety and education in sports. Far more women are abused in sports and that is a bigger issue. More men face physical harm from contact sports and that is often under addressed. We have bigger issues

Most athletes aren’t even trans and represent a small number

Answer these two questions truthfully, then ask yourself if you think its fair:

1. In the past 5yrs, what percentage of female athletes are trans?

2. In the past 5yrs, what percentage of female athletic new-record holders are trans?

Allowing transgender athletes to participate with the group they've transitioned to is inherently wrong, as whether they are have transitioned or not, biological males possess advantages over biological females in most sports, taking away the fairness of the sport, and destroying the chances of biological women to win in their sports.

1. Muscle Mass and Strength

Men generally have greater muscle mass and strength due to higher levels of testosterone. This translates into advantages in sports requiring explosive power and strength, such as:

  • Weightlifting: Men, on average, can lift heavier weights due to larger muscle mass and bone density.
  • Sprint Running: Male sprinters tend to be faster due to their higher percentage of fast-twitch muscle fibers.
  • Reference: A study by Miller et al. (1993) found that men have approximately 26% more muscle mass in the upper body and 33% more in the lower body compared to women. (Journal of Applied PhysiologyRead more

I wish our society's biggest problem were trans athletes. I do not care. It does not happen often.

 @9VLV9FM from Maryland  answered…8mos8MO

Sports is inherently unfair due to genetics, furthermore studies have shown at around 1-2 years trans women (not aware of trans male studies) have less strength proportional to a cis women. Furthermore there are no cases of trans women (nobody ever brings up trans men in this "debate" so I wont) dominating competition.  @9VNC6RGRepublican  from Ohio  answered…8mos8MO

 @9V2WVPMRepublican from Missouri  answered…8mos8MO

There should be a seperate league, because genetically men are stronger than women and that would provide an unfair advantage

 @9TXWWZC from Michigan  answered…8mos8MO

I feel that a biologically born male or female should not participate in a professional athletic event in the opposite biological sex's category.

 @9TV7YK4 from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

Yes because men are men and women are women and they are genetically different and can perform differently in certain sports.

 @9TY5C2SRepublican from Illinois  answered…8mos8MO

I truly believe transgender athletes shouldn't be able to participate in opposite gender sports. Such as a male participating in a female sport, and vice versa.

 @9TZ9P4N from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

I believe that transgender women should not be able to compete in women's sports. People who are assigned men at birth are physically stronger than people who are assigned female at birth.

 @9VLYCKKRepublican  from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

In my opinion, the topic of transgender athletes does not reflect deep societal values. Men and women are equal, but physically different. Allowing a man to compete in women's sports is immensely unfair and should never be allowed.

Yes, if your born a girl, your a girl and if your born a boy, your a boy. If your a transgender and you identify as a girl you shouldn't get to perform and compete with real biological girls, its not fair, and it just means in my opinion that you can't compete with your own gender. Whatever is on your birth certificate when you were born is what you are.

 @9W76SGR from Florida  answered…7mos7MO

the 'debate' about transgender athletes is the stupidest thing I have ever encountered. to think that people are going to upheave their life to beat somebody at high school volleyball is the silliest thing I have ever heard. let people play sports

 @9VH5Q8Q from Idaho  answered…8mos8MO

 @9TV6DBL from California  answered…8mos8MO

I think the whole debate is pointless and that transgender athletes should be placed into their own category because they're genetically built differently.

 @9TZ9V8K from Minnesota  answered…8mos8MO

Transgender athletes should be competing in their gender-born competitions, not changing to have an advantage over others

 @9TXZPYY  from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

In sports, there are biological advantages and disadvantages no matter what. We would not penalize tall men in the NBA in favor of those who are shorter. We also should not be legislating a population of less than 1.14% of the US. It is a waste of time and more importantly, just reflects transphobia. "About 1.14% of the nation’s adult population identifies as transgender, according to the Household Pulse Survey."

Transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete at all. It is totally unfair for the NORMAL athletes that have been working there whole life just to get beat by a boy.

 @9WGHCNYRepublican from California  answered…7mos7MO

Of course not, trans women shouldn’t take place in the same category of biological women. and opposite gender vice versa. It’s not about being hateful but about the legitimate differences between men and women. No matter what they identify as they will still physically be whatever gender they were assigned at birth. At least just make their own damn category

 @9VJXC4R from Pennsylvania  answered…8mos8MO

Only in the sense it's a moved goalpost for bad faith actors to get people to vote against their own interests. Once we've moved past villainizing transgender people they'll find a new marginalized group to make scarecrows out of.

 @9TYKYHP from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

If you're born a man I think you have more strength. If you're born a woman you are somewhat weaker. Men and women should compete in the gender they were born with.

 @9VLVVZ7 from Louisiana  answered…8mos8MO

I think hormone levels give us a clear physical indication if a person falls outside the “fair” range to compete. I don’t believe the government should regulate where a trans athlete is forced to compete. There sporting authorities along with scientific information allows the athletes to compete where they want as well as ensure they don’t have an unfair advantage.

 @9V4JTP4 from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

I believe that transgender athletes who have taken their hormones and fully transitioned fully deserve to play on the team they would like instead of the sex they were born. In my opinion after transitioning they are the gender they have chose for themselves and I would hope more people would accept that.

 @9WRSFMG from Massachusetts  answered…7mos7MO

 @9WRQVT4 from Iowa  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, dont let them compete. It is totally unfair to biological woman to have to face men who are naturally stronger and more athletic.

 @9WRQ4YJ  from Michigan  answered…7mos7MO

It has nothing to do with the fairness of the trans athletes. Most trans athletes place higher in their chosen gender league because they are biologically stronger than their opponents. But if you were to put them in their given gender league they would place much lower as they are performing with the same biological set-up as other competitors.

 @9WPXT6VRepublican from Virginia  answered…7mos7MO

 @9WR8GPCNo Labels from California  answered…7mos7MO

The current debate reflects a general fear of men infringing on women's spaces, but this leads to them not recognizing transgender women as women. Almost never are trans men brought into the debate, reflecting the general opinion on people born female

 @9WRBGD2Progressive from Texas  answered…7mos7MO

It does. It shows that one side sees transgender people in general as less than human and that they shouldn't be able to compete in the same gender as what they're trying to transition to. The debate is also centered around a small percent of an already small percentage of the population that it's incredibly targeted. Making laws around this issue is ridiculous.

 @9WR9V24Independence from California  answered…7mos7MO

 @9WR8GRJ from Virginia  answered…7mos7MO

 @9WR696D from Pennsylvania  answered…7mos7MO

I think it isn’t a constructive debate to be having. It is a huge strawman that trans people are dominating professional sports and are in every competition. I’m not even sure how have an opinion it feels like a huge distraction to more important issues.

 @9WR54CP from Michigan  answered…7mos7MO

No it reflects ignorance and feelings over facts. It’s stupid to say a born man can fairly compete with a women.

 @9WR5JZQ from New Jersey  answered…7mos7MO

Yes. Having transgender athletes compete in regular sports is a testament to equality, not fairness. I do not believe it is fair for a person who has biological advantages because of their birth gender (typically M-F trans in more physical sports) to compete against those who developed within their gender. We see this exemplified with Lia Thomas, Veronica Ivy, Chris Mosier, and more- trans athletes outperforming their non-trans competition in high level athletics.

As a nurse, I can understand the fact that men and women are born with a completely different anatomical build. There are several lab values and tests that are different regarding sex, and in the hospital many tests have to be run in accordance to the gender one was born with. It is unfair for transgender atheletes to use this difference to their advantage in an unfair way to manipulate the sports world. I am not against transgender individuals and believe that you can be whatever you want to be, but it shouldn’t be used in cases that make the playing field or life unfair, because that starts to effect others lives and no longer becomes just a you thing.

 @9WQVKTKRepublican from California  answered…7mos7MO
