Yes

 @B3BPNMY from Texas  disagreed…3mos3MO

America has always had a preference towards white people (specifically white men) and affirmative action is just a bandaid fix to that. The real problem is the class problem of America where all problems stem from.

 @TheHillbillyLordRepublican from Maryland  disagreed…1wk1W

And just where is your proof? You sound like you just want a reason to discriminate against white people as revenge for racism in the past. You're the racist here!

 @B2TMGZ9from New Mexico  agreed…3mos3MO

There is no data that shows that your skin color and gender makes you a better employee, but there is a lot of data that proves that companies that enforced DEI hiring practices went down echonomicaly after they did. Meriticracy allows natural diversity and ensures only people qualified gets the job.

 @B2LMFLDDemocrat  from Minnesota  agreed…4mos4MO

It is a way to give non-whites an opportunity to have decent jobs and add to the diversity at any workplace.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...4mos4MO

No

 @B2LMFLDDemocrat  from Minnesota  disagreed…4mos4MO

They say that it is unfair to consider race when admitting students to a college or university.
But critics claim they unfairly discriminate and should be illegal.

  @JcawolfsonGreen  from Pennsylvania  answered…3mos3MO

Regardless, we must ensure the most qualified candidate gets the job and that there is no hidden discrimination

 @TheHillbillyLordRepublican from Maryland  agreed…1wk1W

Yeah I agree, that's exactly what the question is asking, should affirmative action be eliminated to ensure the most qualified candidate gets the job.

 @B54KK6CNo Labels from Illinois  answered…3wks3W

yes, and put in place requirements that they cannot reject someone on basis of disability, religion, gender identity etc

 @TheHillbillyLordRepublican from Maryland  disagreed…1wk1W

 @B2RQ5B2 from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

yes, but only if race, gender, and other characteristics that could cause bias be removed from all aspects of the job application

 @B4LVXX4 from New Hampshire  answered…1mo1MO

Yes, however there must be some way to prove that a prospective hire was not discriminated against because of their identity

 @Dry550Independent  from Illinois  answered…1mo1MO

No, the idea that affirmative action requirements will only focus on certain groups and outright ignore merit and qualifications is a false way of thinking about the bigger picture. All groups should have equal opportunity

 @B58X43Z from Pennsylvania  answered…2wks2W

Everyone should be hired based on merit and qualifications, with no way to show it. Any discrimination towards anyone should be prohibited, so interviews and resumes should be free of any determining factors. Such as, age, race, sex, etc.

 @B4W3JYQPeace and Freedomanswered…4wks4W

it depends because I'm a Hispanic female and if I couldn't get a job due to my race group and sex that wouldn't be too fair.

 @B4RT63H  from Florida  answered…1mo1MO

No but tweak them to make them more relative to the area that the company works in (I.e a company in a county that is 98% white will have difficulty ensuring diversity compared to a company that is in a diverse area).

 @8FPLGKDIndependent  from Texas  answered…2mos2MO

No, but I am open to contractors having different hiring requirements than dedicated federal positions based on their state of operation.

 @B3DVFJ9  from Kentucky  answered…3mos3MO

I prefer a version of DEI where NO job asks for your demographics, and should only look at the experience, performance and availability of prospective employees

 @B2KNPRB from Georgia  answered…4mos4MO

No one should be hired or fired based of the color of their skin or gender. The only thing that should determine these things is their skill with in the job. if they are good keep them if they are bad fire them.

 @B2KC7T8  from California  answered…4mos4MO

I agree that merit should be one if not the most important thing when it comes to deciding who should be hired. However, I also think that it is important to be in a community of people who are from different backgrounds. This encourages more ideas to be created, as having different stances on topics can lead to more creativity. Rather than framing it as a way to "level [the] playing field" for minorities, it should be used instead to allow more perspectives to come to light.

 @B2K7M2BRepublican from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

personally i think if youre the right person for the job, you should get it no matter the gender or race

 @B2JWGXZ from Virginia  answered…4mos4MO

No, but still do not hire someone who is less qualified just because they are attempting to meet a quota

 @B2TGSS8 from Michigan  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, but less diverse companies should be investigated for purposeful homogeneous practice and fined accordingly.

 @B2NYSR7 from Maryland  answered…4mos4MO

I don't think it should be fully eliminated because afffermitive action prevents people from being forced out by the color of there skin, but also it doesn't take into account other people who have worked equally as hard who get discareded because a certain amount of minor has to be included.

 @B2LMR9D from Kansas  answered…4mos4MO

Just make sure that they are hiring or firing people based purely on their skills and not on their ethnic or religious background.

 @B2LJCYZLibertarian from Iowa  answered…4mos4MO

Yes the government shouldnt make companies be diverse and focus on merit, but there should be rules to make sure companies arent discriminating because of race.

 @B2LBC4J from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

if it is carried out the way it's supposed to then it can have benefits, but if it isn't and is abused for number of minority rates then in can have a negative impact

 @B2KTHHZ from Florida  answered…4mos4MO

Eliminate most if not all, don’t discriminate but don’t prioritise anyone over anyone based on race. Merit based, no racism or reverse racism.

 @B2KPVT2 from Wisconsin  answered…4mos4MO

Affirmative action has just caused it to slide in the other direction to try to make things equal, I just think people should be judged on their abilities.

 @B2KPL9K from Washington  answered…4mos4MO

i believe you should hire who is best suited for the job and not have to use a bingo card for hiring

 @B2KN642 from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

I believe it should be merit-based but I don't think that entitles employers to be racist or sexist.

 @B2KMWQP from Minnesota  answered…4mos4MO

whoever has experience and qualifications, but more less exposed groups should be considered if they possess the expertise

 @B2KH9JH from Ohio  answered…4mos4MO

I believe it should be merit based and not solely just to have diverse races. Although having diversity should be heavily considered

 @B2JZ7BF from Texas  answered…4mos4MO

i think they shouldnt care who the person is and worry bout hiring em soley on the fact that they can do the job

 @B2JY7SH from Pennsylvania  answered…4mos4MO

They should introduce a method in which there could be no discrimination, but not hiring for the sole purpose of having minorities in positions.

 @B2JY6T3 from Missouri  answered…4mos4MO

It should be based on their qualifications, and race, sexuality, etc. shouldn't even be something that's considered.

 @B2JXVSP from Tennessee  answered…4mos4MO

I believe that it should be a competitive hiring process that bases the hiring of someone solely on their ability to do said job. Connections and ties should not play a role in the decision making process.

 @B2JXH35 from Maryland  answered…4mos4MO

This is a difficult one for me. I believe the best candidate should be chosen, regardless of who they are. I believe affirmative action requirements are detrimental to suppressed minorities and hiring managers. Most hiring managers are forced to select a range of minorities to interview even when they have a good internal candidate.

 @B3JVPJ7 from North Carolina  answered…3mos3MO

This is both good and bad. They should make an effort to diversify who they hire, but additionally I feel that people may simply stop hiring a certain type of person if they reach the minimum requirement.
