Affirmative action policies for federal contractors require companies doing business with the government to take proactive steps to ensure diversity in their hiring practices, particularly for historically underrepresented groups. Proponents argue that eliminating affirmative action for federal contractors would create a more level playing field by focusing solely on merit and qualifications rather than race, gender, or other characteristics. They believe these requirements can lead to reverse discrimination and create unfair advantages for certain groups. Opponents argue that affirmative action is essential to correct historical inequities and promote diversity in the workplace. They believe removing these requirements would perpetuate systemic discrimination and reduce opportunities for marginalized communities.

America has always had a preference towards white people (specifically white men) and affirmative action is just a bandaid fix to that. The real problem is the class problem of America where all problems stem from.

There is no data that shows that your skin color and gender makes you a better employee, but there is a lot of data that proves that companies that enforced DEI hiring practices went down echonomicaly after they did. Meriticracy allows natural diversity and ensures only people qualified gets the job.
It is a way to give non-whites an opportunity to have decent jobs and add to the diversity at any workplace.

yes, but only if race, gender, and other characteristics that could cause bias be removed from all aspects of the job application
@B4LVXX41mo1MO
Yes, however there must be some way to prove that a prospective hire was not discriminated against because of their identity
@Dry550Independent 1mo1MO
No, the idea that affirmative action requirements will only focus on certain groups and outright ignore merit and qualifications is a false way of thinking about the bigger picture. All groups should have equal opportunity
@B58X43Z2wks2W
Everyone should be hired based on merit and qualifications, with no way to show it. Any discrimination towards anyone should be prohibited, so interviews and resumes should be free of any determining factors. Such as, age, race, sex, etc.
it depends because I'm a Hispanic female and if I couldn't get a job due to my race group and sex that wouldn't be too fair.
@B4RT63H 1mo1MO
No but tweak them to make them more relative to the area that the company works in (I.e a company in a county that is 98% white will have difficulty ensuring diversity compared to a company that is in a diverse area).
@8FPLGKDIndependent 2mos2MO
No, but I am open to contractors having different hiring requirements than dedicated federal positions based on their state of operation.
@B3DVFJ9 3mos3MO
I prefer a version of DEI where NO job asks for your demographics, and should only look at the experience, performance and availability of prospective employees
@B2KNPRB4mos4MO
No one should be hired or fired based of the color of their skin or gender. The only thing that should determine these things is their skill with in the job. if they are good keep them if they are bad fire them.
@B2KC7T8 4mos4MO
I agree that merit should be one if not the most important thing when it comes to deciding who should be hired. However, I also think that it is important to be in a community of people who are from different backgrounds. This encourages more ideas to be created, as having different stances on topics can lead to more creativity. Rather than framing it as a way to "level [the] playing field" for minorities, it should be used instead to allow more perspectives to come to light.
@B2K7M2BRepublican4mos4MO
personally i think if youre the right person for the job, you should get it no matter the gender or race
@B2JWGXZ4mos4MO
No, but still do not hire someone who is less qualified just because they are attempting to meet a quota
@B2TGSS83mos3MO
Yes, but less diverse companies should be investigated for purposeful homogeneous practice and fined accordingly.
@B2NYSR74mos4MO
I don't think it should be fully eliminated because afffermitive action prevents people from being forced out by the color of there skin, but also it doesn't take into account other people who have worked equally as hard who get discareded because a certain amount of minor has to be included.
@B2LMR9D4mos4MO
Just make sure that they are hiring or firing people based purely on their skills and not on their ethnic or religious background.
@B2LJCYZLibertarian4mos4MO
Yes the government shouldnt make companies be diverse and focus on merit, but there should be rules to make sure companies arent discriminating because of race.
@B2LBC4J4mos4MO
if it is carried out the way it's supposed to then it can have benefits, but if it isn't and is abused for number of minority rates then in can have a negative impact
@B2KTHHZ4mos4MO
Eliminate most if not all, don’t discriminate but don’t prioritise anyone over anyone based on race. Merit based, no racism or reverse racism.
@B2KPVT24mos4MO
Affirmative action has just caused it to slide in the other direction to try to make things equal, I just think people should be judged on their abilities.
@B2KPL9K4mos4MO
i believe you should hire who is best suited for the job and not have to use a bingo card for hiring
@B2KN6424mos4MO
I believe it should be merit-based but I don't think that entitles employers to be racist or sexist.
@B2KMWQP4mos4MO
whoever has experience and qualifications, but more less exposed groups should be considered if they possess the expertise
@B2KH9JH4mos4MO
I believe it should be merit based and not solely just to have diverse races. Although having diversity should be heavily considered
@B2JZ7BF4mos4MO
i think they shouldnt care who the person is and worry bout hiring em soley on the fact that they can do the job
@B2JY7SH4mos4MO
They should introduce a method in which there could be no discrimination, but not hiring for the sole purpose of having minorities in positions.
@B2JY6T34mos4MO
It should be based on their qualifications, and race, sexuality, etc. shouldn't even be something that's considered.
@B2JXVSP4mos4MO
I believe that it should be a competitive hiring process that bases the hiring of someone solely on their ability to do said job. Connections and ties should not play a role in the decision making process.
@B2JXH354mos4MO
This is a difficult one for me. I believe the best candidate should be chosen, regardless of who they are. I believe affirmative action requirements are detrimental to suppressed minorities and hiring managers. Most hiring managers are forced to select a range of minorities to interview even when they have a good internal candidate.
@B3JVPJ73mos3MO
This is both good and bad. They should make an effort to diversify who they hire, but additionally I feel that people may simply stop hiring a certain type of person if they reach the minimum requirement.
