Yes it was a cultural symbol in shows like Dukes of Hazard and around for years. I don’t like it but I’m not going to ban it

No. We had a literal war over the creation of a separate nation that waved the flag. If private citizens want to fly it, fine but government property is different.

The flag was meant to be a flag for the confederacy during battles in the American Civil War, and since the Civil War had been over for over 100 years now, I don't think the flag should be considered for anything, but rather, what it can be used for. Whether that be for rebellion, ancestry, or white heritage or culture, it really depends on how you want to portray it as today. The Nazi flag is different though, since the Confederacy was a Confederacy, and not a Fascist Regime. Given the context of how the flag was used back then and now however, I'd say it's a sign of treason against the US, but only if the user of the flag is in favor of rebelling against the US.

Unless it is in a historical context, the only flag that should be flying on government property is the American Flag

 @95WSDDX from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

It should be the prerogative of private citizens to display the flag. States should only fly the state and federal colors.

 @93Y8XNR from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

No, flags of countries other than the USA should not be displayed on state property

 @92B5LPY from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

Depends on what the star is using it for, if it’s for racism it isn’t right but if it’s rebellion then sure

 @8YZF9B3Republican from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

I don't see the flag as harmful. When looking at it I see history and value

 @8YDS6LQ from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, but they should change the design to give it its true meaning back

No, it should be banned publicly and only allowed in an educational environment.

 @8TC7ZWLDemocrat from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, I don’t approve of it but it’s Constitutionally-protected free speech

Yes, it is hypocritical to ban the Confederate flag because the two flags are one and the same.

 @8PSYDSQDemocrat from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, they should be allowed to display, but the states should choose not to display it on their own

 @8P46Y3N from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but I do believe that they could and should be displayed in museums for educational purposes.

 @8K8VGSC from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, we shouldn't legislate this. If they are dumb enough to still display it, so be it.

 @8HS5M5M from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

No; by the logic of the Founding Fathers, if it is licit for the US to secede from the British Empire, then it must also be licit for the Confederacy to secede from the US.

 @8GY6QN3 from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

No, all should be bought from private citizens, businesses, and organizations and burned.

 @9CQJ7MSLibertarian from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

Put it to a vote, but never fly it at or above the level of the US flag

 @9CGNJXJ from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

I don’t necessarily support it, but it’s a first amendment freedom of expression.

 @9BSJ33K from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

 @MD100 from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

No, only state, national, and official government office/military/branch flags should be allowed on government buildings

 @92T58MH from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, It is protected by the first amendment and is a part of history but it is also looked at something that ha brought harm so use of it should be withheld.
