In 1961, the South Carolina State Government passed a law mandating that the confederate flag be flown on the ground of its state capitol building. The law was passed to commemorate the centennial of the Civil War assault on Fort Sumter. Opponents argue that the flag is a political symbol that represents racial inequality and should be removed after the shooting deaths of nine African American church members in June 2015. Proponents argue that the flag is an important historical symbol that commemorates the state’s role in the Civil War.

Yes, but at a lower height than the US flag, they also must provide and fly any other historical flag at their expense and time, if requested.

Each state should be allowed to have the Rebel Flag and it should be flown at museums and historical monuments.

I don't agree with what the flag stands for but the government should not have the power to ban the public display of the flag
@9F4BW6Q2yrs2Y
No, but government institutions should not be allowed to have any other flags either, no matter what they are or what people think they represent.

I say if it’s for historical purposes and is still below the American flag. However, I believe that if people want it in museums then sure.
@8ZXWP3X3yrs3Y
Yes they should be allowed on the basis of freedom of speech under the 1st amendment, unfortunately.
@8WVVZCDRepublican4yrs4Y

@8SM883H4yrs4Y
Yes, but only as a sign of the civil war and the lost lives of confederate and union soldiers. Though state governments should be mindful of African Americans in the area, and take leagues to distinguish the flag as a part of history, and not as a statement on how we should treat each other now.
@8Q9GLTXRepublican4yrs4Y
Yes, our nations history should not be erased or we will be doomed to relive it!
@8F76XQH5yrs5Y
Each state should be allowed to vote and decide on this. On private property, the state or federal government has no right to ban it.
@9CLQDL42yrs2Y
Yes, as long as it is flown in accordance with the US flag code.
@8G4NT885yrs5Y
I don’t like it but I think removing it would violate free speech
