the flag only has a historical and educational role as far as the united states government should be concerned. this means museums and learning institutions only where it can be properly contextualized for what it was. citizens owning one is one thing, flying it in public is another, and flying it on government property or using it to lionize a violent rebellion of hateful people should be absolutely out of the question.

Yes, if it is relevant in that state and area. It is a symbol of rebellion and a fight for rights, not racism. What some people look past is that, at the time, the actions done by the Southern states was simply a fight for what they believed was right at the time. Flying it now does not mean whoever flies it is racist or wants slavery, it is being flown as a symbol of Southern states' rebellion and fight for rights.

No. The flag your referring to isn’t even the confederate flag it is a battle flag.
