In 1961, the South Carolina State Government passed a law mandating that the confederate flag be flown on the ground of its state capitol building. The law was passed to commemorate the centennial of the Civil War assault on Fort Sumter. Opponents argue that the flag is a political symbol that represents racial inequality and should be removed after the shooting deaths of nine African American church members in June 2015. Proponents argue that the flag is an important historical symbol that commemorates the state’s role in the Civil War.

It should not be displayed on government property as that could be interpreted as a sign of treason however it should be legal to display it on public property as the flag is a sign of rebellion and no longer invokes racism.
@9D9CL632yrs2Y
Only if the opposite flag is shown equally too
@9D6LS9C2yrs2Y
The state should not fly the flags of any ideology
@AzareelVidales3yrs3Y
They should only be displayed in museums.
@8SJRGKR4yrs4Y
No, the flag is the symbol of another country and treason and sedition from the United States of America
@8S6S35S4yrs4Y
Yes, because it is freedom of speech. However, I do not respect it, as it is a symbol of racism and separatism, and anybody who proudly displays it, supports that, and genuinely disgust me, but it is their right.
@8PPQB6Q4yrs4Y
It depends on the local policy on flying flags of foreign countries and hanging portraits of Benedict Arnold. What a silly question. Would we stick a German flag on the capitol lawn!?
@8PCXVDW5yrs5Y
Yes because the state should choose there flag but I still disagree with the confederate flag
@8L9PTFW5yrs5Y
No, they lost it should be put in history book and museums.
@tscullen76No Labels5yrs5Y
No, and ban any public display of the flag. The United States has a national flag. The Confederate flag is historic however is socially known as a symbol that creates a feeling of racism, separatism, and treason. The flag should only be allowed in some museums as a historical reference to the past we no longer accept as a national symbol.
No, people should dawn the American flag instead.
@9BZFF2W2yrs2Y
yes although its controversial our right to this is protected with the first amendment
@988S53K2yrs2Y
Yes, for its historical purposes however it most likely shouldn't be flown for the pure reason of its context in modern day.
@8W4P99D4yrs4Y
Yes, but only if the majority of the state wants this.
@8JSDZN4Republican5yrs5Y
Yes, but for historical places only, and only for historical reasons
@RicodelfuegoLibertarian5yrs5Y
Probably not - It’s the flag of a “foreign power”
@8F9SMPXRepublican5yrs5Y
No, it should be flown in a museum dedicated to Black history and how the Confederate Flag is a symbol of racism and treason.
@8F94XZ35yrs5Y
No, for museum uses only.

No, and permanently and irrevocably ban all confederate organizations, associations, Flaggers (Confederate flag erectors) along with the end of celebrating, honoring, commemorating confederates, confederate victories. Also, permanently and irrevocably remove all of the remaining Confederate monuments, memorials (including renaming places named after confederates or associated with the confederacy) as well as the permanent and irrevocable removal of all remaining leftist, non-Nicene Christian or Jew and masonic monuments, memorials (including renaming places named after a Freemason, non-Nicene Christian or Jew and/or associated with freemasonry) in republican and future republican majority states, territories, counties and county-equivalents, cities, towns and Census Designated Areas (CDP's).

They can do whatever they want with their flag but they can face the consequences of their racism.
