If they allow things such as pride flags to be hung, then this can be as well. As this is only personal opinion and people are free to that.

 @9XL7NWQ from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, because if we don't allow it flown it could be taken away from historical monuments and museums, and some people who fly the flag do not associate it with discrimination though Many do

 @9W6STPD from Arizona  answered…9mos9MO

There is no such thing as "government property" that property belongs to the people of the jurisdiction in question.

 @9V7P74V from Arizona  answered…9mos9MO

Governments who currently have this flag, or variations of it, as their official state flag should be able to fly it on government property.

 @7YS3KJPIndependent  from Arizona  answered…11mos11MO

Yes, though preferably only at historical monuments, and I would like to see it banned on a state basis as the Confederate flag has a lot of very unsavory (and racist) associations.

 @9S5KQ5G from Arizona  answered…11mos11MO

It depends on the purpose why someone would want to display the flag. To many its not about slavery but rather southern pride. To be safe I'd oppose it but then the same goes for the Palastinian flags and other current hate regimes.

 @9M7KLR5Communist from Arizona  answered…1yr1Y

Individual people should be allowed to fly it, but the government can not, with the exception of a museum or historical monument where it was originally flown.

 @9GX3PPN from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No, confederates are not american flags. They are an enemy of the country and flying the flag is a form of treason. Same as swastika

 @92LT76V  from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No, the Confederate flag and all its variants (Cross, Stars and Bars, etc.) should be treated like the Nazi flag in Germany. Only legal in educational contexts (museums, school presentations, etc.) but otherwise completely ban it. It is a symbol of treason, racism, and tyranny.

 @7YS3KJPIndependent  from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

No; states should be able to decide whether or not they want to keep it up, and if then, only at historical monuments.

 @9T8LHK2 from Arizona  answered…10mos10MO

No, and ban all flags related to the confederacy or its supporters. They should only be displayed in museums.

 @94S264B from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

It depends on the person, because everyone has their own opinions but they shouldn't take it to an extreme.

 @94F7FHK from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

No, it’s a sign of racism and in my experience is flown by people who discriminate and are prone to yelling/violence but in historic places or in one’s own home it should still be allowed if they really want it to be.

 @93WW549Republican from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

No, as it represents treason, unless in museums as a historical object or graveyards to honor the dead

 @92LT76V from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Z79QFF from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if it is historically contextualized and disconnected from the modern day.

 @8YS2RT3 from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

No, unless at museums or historical monuments where it was originally flown.

 @8YFX5QF from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

They should be able to fly any flag anywhere as long as the property has strict rules against it

 @8Y3LGRG from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

No, ban it from any public spaces. It is a symbol of racism, treason and separatism

 @8XP4R3GIndependent from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8XDK7NG from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TX5JJJ from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but it is strange to fly another country's flag, a country that no longer exists, on our government property.

 @8RQQPYW from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

I don't think that the confederate flag should be allowed at all. It should be kept on the museums, but it can be seem as a symbol for racism, separatism, and treason. It is a flag that was used to fight against the United States current government and overthrow it.

 @8R5B3Y8 from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, they should have the right but I would never support my state doing it.

 @8R4G5QM from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8QXYYZD from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, people should be able to do whatever they want. But it should be socially unacceptable to do so. Like the Nazi flag

 @8QX5NRQSocialist from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8QPCLP9 from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

yes, they should be allowed to show/express what they believe even if people disagree with it

 @whopkinsLibertarian from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

No, it represents a "foreign" power trying to take over our government. Should we fly the Nazi flag on government property?

 @8Q4XLQZ from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

Freedom of speech should not be limited what so ever even if it is something I disagree with.

 @8PNJH27 from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8PG98ZC from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, the confederate battle flag and the official flag of the CSA are both national symbols for the Dixie south and represent far more than the circumstances surrounding the civil war.

 @8P54ZPM from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8NG2C2H from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

It does not belong on Government property, but regulation is not necessary.

 @8KXRRCW from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

No, and ban any public display of the flag, it is a symbol of racism, separatism, and treason

 @8HR4HXF from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

No flag other than the American flag should be flown, but other flags should be able to be displayed where appropriate.

 @8HLZZQM from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only in museums and other educational venues to preserve history.

 @8FTZCRC from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

It's a touchy subject regardless of who you are. I'm in the middle and don't really have a side to be on.

 @8FNZJCZLibertarian from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

No, and ban any public display of the flag, it is a symbol of racism, separatism and treason

 @8CGH55P from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

No, it belongs in a museum, not flown in public ON public property (what a private citizen/institution does on their private property is their business).

 @8CGCYYH from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

no, its a flag that was made for a decade and holds little to not actual history value.

 @9CM996SIndependent from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No. It's prevalence increased during Jim Crow and was displayed with lynchings. The Southern fight for states' rights is irrational as it was related to owning humans to degrade, rape, and use humans for free labor without labor laws to protect them.

 @9BFTDRHIndependent from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No, just keep it in museums. It's historical significance is important, but clinging on to a long abandoned ideology fueled my separatism is sort of pathetic.

 @9BFM96H from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

 @7YS3KJPIndependent from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, though preferably only at historical monuments. Personally, I believe individuals have a right to do so, as well, even though I am against pretty much everything the Confederate flag stood for. I don't think there's any good reason to exercise that right, but I think they have it.

 @994SP7G from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

I don't like the negative symbolic aspect of the Confederate flag, but creating legislation that restricts people from hanging it on their property is a violation of their freedom of expression that infringes upon the rights given to them by the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution.

 @7YS3KJPIndependent from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes. Personally, I believe states have a right to do so, even though I am against pretty much everything the Confederate flag stood for. I don't think there's any good reason to exercise that right, but I think they have it.

 @9783X6F from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

Though it has some positive connotations such as standing up for beliefs, the Confederate flag represents the view of racism and there fore should not be shown in public places aside from museums and other places for displaying its history.

 @93VMJKY from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

The Confederate flag is a potent symbol of racism and treason, flown by corrupt men who fought and died for their right to enslave other human beings based purely upon the color of their skin. While its message is uncomfortable, it is an important piece of history. No building which houses any form of government of the United States of America should fly the Confederate flag with pride, nor do I believe any good citizen should have it hung proudly on display. I believe the only appropriate place for the Confederate flag to fly is at the sites of historical battles between the Union and Confederacy, and the only appropriate place for it to be displayed otherwise is in museums dedicated to the history of the Civil War.

 @8XS4VJY from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, only at memorials because it's a symbol of rebellion, how people could turn against each other.

 @7YS3KJPIndependent from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8QSBKB8 from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that it should be up to the state whether or not to put up a confederate flag as most states put those flags or statues up of confederate leaders to remind the people of the past.

 @8PWY3X7Republican from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

Confederate flags should be allowed to fly over any state property that is historically connected to a site - battlefield, fortresses, any site that has historical significance to the War Between the States 1860-1865.

 @9MHZFY2  from Arizona  answered…1yr1Y

No, unless for memorial services pertaining to to the Civil War era (I.e. museums, battlefields, etc.)

 @8RSTXFTLibertarian from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, despite the history of the flag, people have a right to display whatever flag they choose, people and government officials alike.
